PQ44056 enhances the restart capabilities of Alter and Migrate by combining jobs into step restartable jobs. Partitioned tables can now be altered. PQ42882 provides a new space manager function in DB2 Administration Tool which merges VSAM dataset information with DB2 catalog information. This allows you to move page sets to other storage groups or VSAM catalogs. A resize function enables resizing of pagesets that are in many extents or over-allocated. The space manager function also provides a table space and index space estimator that calculates the space required for the object based on the number of rows and the length. PQ41660 gives you the ability to save DB2 Administration Tool parameters. These saved parameters then can be restored the next time DB2 Administration Tool is invoked. This also includes the last value of CURRENT SQLID. PQ45029 provides the foundation to integrate IBM DB2 tools and DB2 Administration Tool in the z/os environment. This support provides you with the option to customize DB2 Administration Tool to launch installed IBM DB2 tools that have an ISPF interface. DB2 Log Archive Compression Tool for z/os makes highly compressed off-site copies of DB2 logs allowing administrators to reduce the volume of archived logs resulting in: Shorter I/O and recovery times Lower storage costs Making storage of DB2 logs on DASD affordable in many cases instead of tape

3 Archive Log Compression uses high performance compression technology designed especially for DB2 logs to maximize the: Reduction of your offload/retrieval time of your storage media Administrators may elect to keep SQL UNDO entries in the log to be compressed and achieve very high compression rates. Or they may choose to have DB2 Archive Log Compression remove SQL UNDO (which is not needed for disaster recovery) in order to obtain even higher rates of compression. DB2 Automation Tool for z/os helps you realize the full potential of your DB2 system by continuously and automatically coordinating the execution of specific DB2 utilities on an around-the-clock basis. The primary capabilities provided are: Automatic execution of the following DB2 utilities against specified objects Image Copy REORG RUNSTATS Manual, periodic, or rules-based execution with a combination of parameters and options Development of job and profiles through intuitive ISPF panels and special syntax without needing JCL skills. Support that allows multiple database administrators to securely maintain their own sets of profiles Now, without relying on repeated manual interventions, every DB2 administrator is able to add maximum value to the enterprise by extracting full performance constantly from even the most heavily-used database environment. DB2 Log Analysis Tool for OS/390 PTFs add the following ease-of-use and reporting enhancements to this tool s existing capabilities for tracking and selectively reversing changes to DB2 data: Support for data sharing by automatically and transparently reading through multiple member logs to obtain log information. By specifying a group name as the SSID, all members logs will be read when DB2 Log Analysis Tool is run. Easier access to summarized analysis, through generation of a separate Summary Report when you select Option #1, Generate Database Activity Report (General), from the DB2 Log Analysis Tool main menu. (Previously, this summary information was appended to the General Report.) The Summary Report summarizes and totals the number of updates, inserts, and deletes for a table and its associated tablespace and database. Additional activity reporting in the ACTION field. Now, the ACTION field on the DB2 Log Analysis General Report identifies activity resulting from the execution of the LOAD or REORG DB2 utilities. The ACTION field can contain the following values: U = Update D = Delete I = Insert X = Load or Reorg Found An option to include/exclude DB2 catalog data in reports, through a CATALOG DATA filter that has been added to the Generate Database Activity Report (General) selection screen. Display of the log record timestamp in the Detail Report, as a hexadecimal value in the new LRSN column. This field represents the actual time of the log record creation, and is used mostly in data sharing environments to synchronize log records across members of a data sharing group. Additional filtering options allowing for generated reports and SQL to be further refined by column data values. DB2 Object Comparison Tool for z/os helps you keep your test and development system as a mirror image of the production system. New applications, application modifications, or mistakes can cause DB2 objects in one of these systems to have different attributes than on other systems. DB2 Object Comparison Tool allows you to compare objects (and dependent objects) from one source to another. Once a difference file is generated, the product can be used to generate the DB2 commands needed to bring the catalogs back into synchronization. Masking and ignore files are supported to account for intentional differences and/or naming conventions that exist between the two sets of objects to be compared. For example, primary/secondary quantities usually are different between a test and production system. Likewise, the same object might have an owner name of TESTxxx on the test system and an owner name of PRODxxx on the production system. Use of the mask and or ignore files allow you to compare only on real differences that might exist. Version files are used for comparison. A version file is created from either a file of DDL or from objects in a DB2 catalog. The known-to-be-correct source version file is compared to a target version file that may be back level. Using version files as a base you may compare DDL, catalog object definitions, and/or other version files in any pair-wise combination desired. The ability to do comparisons with previously generated version files gives you the opportunity to: Restore application objects to a previous version (backout) Compare a new version with several production versions (clones) of the objects DB2 Object Comparison runs as an extension to DB2 Administration Tool for OS/390, Version 2.1 and consists of: An ISPF frontend for specification of the objects to be compared A DB2 catalog extract function that pulls definitions from the catalog into a version file to support the compare process A DDL extract function that reads DDL statements and converts them into a version file A batch compare function that compares two version files, produces a report that describes the differences found and generates the information needed to apply changes to the target A batch job generator that provides everything necessary to apply the changes to the target DB2 Table Editor for z/os, Version 4.1 provides the widest choice and most robust features available in the industry for the entire range of enterprise table editing needs. DB2 Forms has been renamed DB2 Table Editor to better describe the major functions that it provides. As a result, this new version is DB2 Table Editor for z/os, Version 4.1 rather than DB2 Forms for z/os, Version 4.1. The major facilities provided are:

4 Robust table editing across multiple end-user environments, including ISPF, JAVA (including from within a web browser), and 32-bit Windows Table editing in full-screen (multi-row) Filter records easily and build custom views of data Save at End feature, which allows you to perform multiple edit actions (inserts, updates, deletes) before sending results to DB2 Edit Tables in ISPF directly from DB2 Administration Tool DB2 Table Editor for z/os now allows you to edit tables directly from the DB2 Control Center using: Edit Full Screen Edit Row at a Time Edit Wizard Windows and Java Users also have the following facilities: Row-at-a-time (single row), or wizard mode Ability to update primary keys Edit Related feature allows you to automatically jump to related tables based on current parent or child column value Save views instantly for repeat editing; share centrally with others Create advanced table editing forms that contain data validation rules, synchronized referential scrolling, colors, fonts, and more, which can be distributed to Windows and web users alike IMS Database Control Suite for z/os, Version 2.1 is a day-to-day IMS database environment management tool for Database Administrators, System Programmers, and Application Support Specialists. IMS Database Repair Facility is a powerful tool that interactively repairs VSAM- and OSAM-organized IMS databases containing pointer or data errors. The product s interactive capabilities let you make the repair quickly, which means that the affected database needs to be taken off-line only for a brief period. IMS Database Repair Facility features both VSAM and OSAM pointer repair, pointer navigation, and a backout safety feature. Driven by an ISPF front-end, this tool is a powerful addition to any System Programmer or DBA workbench. IMS Fast Path Online Tools for z/os, Version 2.1 are the perfect extension to the IMS Fast Path Basic Tools. This product includes: DEDB Online Pointer Checker DEDB Online Data Extract The DEDB Online Pointer Checker functions as an online interface to the IMS Fast Path Tools DEDB Pointer Checker and DEDB Tuning Aid. It accesses the DEDB area dataset online using Fast Path utility services. The output of this utility is a set of sequential files which are input into DEDB Pointer Checker/Tuning Aid. Online Pointer Checker provides the following: Summary report of pointer errors found Option to produce a snap listing of CIs found to be in error Option to take an Image Copy during execution, which will be similar to the IMS Concurrent Image copy

5 DBRC notification of the image copy Dual Image Copy output datasets DEDB Online Data Extract provides IMS DEDB users with an easy-to-use, flexible tool to extract data from a DEDB area while the area is online. The product functions in read-only mode, and uses locking protocols to ensure a consistent view of the data. The specification of which segments to extract allows comparisons of data offset into a segment against supplied values. More than one comparison per segment type is supported and the ability to write a subset of the matching segment s data to the output file is supported. DEDB Online Data Extract uses standard IMS data access techniques ensuring it will function correctly with all DEDB facilities, including data sharing, MADS, VSO, Shared VSO, EQE, and IMS V7 EEQE support. DEDB Online Data Extract also can write output data in a format compatible with the IMS Fast Path Basic Tools Reload utility. This powerful utility can be used: To satisfy data reporting requirements To extract data to populate test databases As an alternative to writing a customized BMP application program IMS Fast Path Online Tools Version 2 provides a new utility called Fast Path Online Area Extender. This new utility allows you to dynamically expand the size of a DEDB area online via expanding the SDEP portion OR the IOVF portion (if sdeps are NOT defined) of the DEDB area. This allows 24x7 availability of an IMS Fast Path DEDB area. IMS High Performance Pointer Checker for OS/390 PTF gives you the ability to set the following new thresholds: Available extents Control area (CA) splits Control interval (CI) splits Dataset last extent Used space as a percentage of allocated space The number of days since last reorganization run Database last extent The space monitor utility indicates over-threshold values on the Pointer Checker reports. This is very useful information to database administrators. Messages are issued when any thresholds values are exceeded. IBM Tools for Database Recovery and Replication Management DB2 Change Accumulation Tool for z/os provides DB2 administrators with a powerful tool for backing up database objects in the most precise and least disruptive manner possible by: Making precise point-in-time recovery of database objects simple and reliable Allowing recovery routines to focus on single objects and previous states Producing SHRLEVEL REFERENCE image copies without the associated overhead and data locking Controlling the scope and specificity of image copy creation precisely via control cards Maintaining data integrity without recovery to RBA Reducing recovery session times significantly in many cases Providing low overhead and minimizing downtimes for high-volume, complex databases with large numbers of tables and dependencies IMS Image Copy Extensions for OS/390 PTF supports a One Step full function database HASH Check function. Only an ICE image copy step with the HASH check option is needed for the full-function database HASH Check. This means that the DBD analysis program step, Hash Evaluation program step, PSBLIB, DBDEFCTL data set, or PROCCTL data set are no longer required. One Step full function HASH Check can be invoked from the FABJMAIN program. It cannot be invoked from the IMS compatible JCL. However, full function HASH check JCL can still be used. In order to submit the One Step full function database HASH Check the following actions are required and restrictions apply. Pointer Checker DD statements are must be added to the FABJMAIN JCL HDPC=Y must be specified in the ICEIN data set The FABJMAIN JCL must provide for image copies of all logically related databases and indexes that are included in the PSB generation IMS Online Recovery Service for z/os, in a single pass of the input data, manages the accumulation and merging of recovery related database data for the recovery of: One or more IMS full function databases or Fast path areas Data sets, including image copy, change accumulation and logs are processed in parallel while multiple database data sets are updated simultaneously. IMS Online Recovery Service allows you to recover shared IMS databases directly from image copies and log data sets if change accumulation data sets are not available. In fact, IMS Online Recovery Service even uses incomplete change accumulation data sets for recovery if they are the latest copy available. In addition, a new timestamp recovery function provides recovery to any prior point in time, regardless of database allocation ranges. IMS commands control IMS Online Recovery Service, and recovery can be initiated through the IMS Automated Operator Interface. IBM Database Tools for Performance Management DB2 SQL Performance Analyzer for OS/390 PTFs PQ44835 provides: A new parameter-driven option to show the alternative indexes that are available as possible access path choices, but which are not presently chosen by the Optimizer.
