major technical centres, manufacturing sites and customer support facilities in 32 countries, Delphi delivers real-world innovations that make Simulation of the impact of Drive Cycle Changes on Vehicle Emissions. The task will be to use 1D simulations to understand the impact of regulatory changes to the vehicle type approval test cycle on vehicle emissions. An existing model is already available within the code AMESIM but will need to be adapted and improved to meet the requirements of the task. Key challenges will be to incorporate the impact of driving dynamics, altitude and temperature on vehicle performance. The task will require a close collaboration with the vehicle performance measurement process. Work within the Advanced Injection and Combustion Centre Team to understand the requirements, to gather and to give support.. Develop expertise on the required software. Develop and validate the key additional functionality within the software tool. Use the tool and software to explore the impact of regulatory changes on vehicle performance. Document the software development and the results of the investigation. Updated software model. Workflow and methodology to calibrate model accurately Report on new software functionality Report on drive cycle impact on emissions English Currently studying Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics or Physics, in their final or penultimate year of studies A background and strong motivation to work on the subjects of Combustion, Simulations and/or experimental measurement Knowledge of one of AMESIM or GTPower Strong Analytical skills Experience with Matlab, Experience with VB in excel Bascharage, Luxembourg Position is available from October 2015 CONTACT : Gavin DOBER (Manager Combustion and Simulations - AICC)
major technical centres, manufacturing sites and customer support facilities in 32 countries, Delphi delivers real-world innovations that make The student project is to benchmark the CAE integration tool performance of AVL FIRE in combination with ESE Diesel meshing and the DOE package for the investigation of the interaction between gas flow, nozzle layout, spray targeting, and piston bowl geometry design. Establish a workflow including geometry design, mesh generation, simulation, post-processing, and analysis and benchmark the performance of simulation automation. Application of the FIRE DOE package to an investigation of the interaction between piston bowl geometry, nozzle layout and spray targeting. Robust workflow for FIRE engine simulation based on high degree of CAE integration Obtain fundamental understanding on how to optimize nozzle layout, spray targeting, and piston bowl geometry to improve engine combustion performance Strong background in thermodynamics and diesel engine system Strong background in CFD and good skills in C programming Good skills in CAD software ideally SolidWorks Ability for team work, self organisation, and target orientated Fluency in English Experience with engine simulation or with the software AVL FIRE Experience in engine system analysis Bascharage / Luxembourg Position is available from November 2015 CONTACT : Dr.-Ing. major technical centers, manufacturing sites and customer support facilities in 32 countries, Delphi delivers real-world innovations that make The student project is dedicated to developing an automation tool to manage, monitor, and control AMESim simulations and a utility tool to improve post-processing and allow easy direct comparison between simulation and hydraulic rig measurement. A second task is to developing post-processing tool for engine combustion test and simulation data analysis. For Master thesis students the project can be extended to fuel injection system analysis and validation. Understanding the available data processing process, finalize the processing concept and make clean documentation Programming automatic data processing tool with User friendly GUI for hydraulic and engine combustion test and simulation data Documentation for data processing method and procedure; Matlab utility routines with GUI runnable on MS windows / Linux machine for automatic data processing Analytical skills Ability for team work, self organisation, and target orientated Strong skills in Matlab / C programming Good knowledge in physics, hydraulic and thermodynamics Fluency in English Experience in engine test data processing Experience in AMESim or GT simulation is of good advantage Bascharage / Luxembourg Position is available from November 2015 CONTACT : Dr.-Ing.
