History EAHM was established in October 2001 with a vision of providing the thriving hospitality industry with a ready supply of talented and qualified management personnel. It is the first major university in the Middle East to offer degree-level courses focusing on hospitality management. The support of Jumeirah provides EAHM s students with access to superlative properties and a first-hand practical experience of the working of this dynamic industry. Objectives EAHM aims to prepare students for top management positions in leading organisations within the hospitality industry, exposing them to the widest range of career opportunities. The syllabus provides a holistic educational experience to instil a way of life in the students. With over 60 nationalities being represented amongst the students, EAHM applies a truly international approach; teaching cultural sensitivity, tolerance and appreciation of diverse traditions, values and social nuances. Accreditations and Associations EAHM is accredited in the UAE by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research. It is also accredited in the UK by the Institute of Hospitality and in Australia by The International Centre of Excellence in Tourism and Hospitality Education (THE-ICE). EAHM also has an academic association with the Ecole Hôtelière de Lausanne in Switzerland, the world s oldest and one of the most reputable hospitality management schools. 1

Structure EAHM adopts a trimester system and students can begin their studies three times a year in January, April or September. Each class consists of a limited number of students, which guarantees personal attention and encourages interaction and open dialogue. The international mix of students from over 60 countries around the world ensures a healthy sharing of cultures and ideas. The faculty adopts the latest pedagogical techniques with a blend of innovation and traditional style and is focused on individual student development, also providing one-to-one career counselling. Overall, EAHM boasts a renowned faculty, modern infrastructure and state of the art technology to ensure students receive a world-class educational experience. Facilities Excellent audio-visual equipment is complemented by a fully integrated wireless network. To enhance the learning experience, students are provided with industry exposure off campus in a live environment. The campus also features a spacious auditorium, a specialised library and seminar rooms, all equipped with the latest technology. EAHM places considerable emphasis on training students in the practical applications of Information Technology within the hospitality environment. Whether it is an accounting system in a financial management class or a point of sales system in a food service practicum, IT is integrated in all courses. Campus Life Students live in superbly appointed individual studios built specifically for this purpose. Every studio has its own kitchen and bathroom, wireless internet access and is fully furnished. Communal areas including clubhouse restaurant, café and various leisure facilities encourage a relaxed and informal atmosphere. Comprehensive sports and leisure facilities include an outdoor swimming pool, gym, basketball / volleyball court and tennis courts. In addition, public beaches are within walking distance from the campus. EAHM s campus provides students with a safe, comfortable and dynamic environment conducive to learning and spontaneous interaction. Academic Programmes Bachelor of Business Administration (Honours) in International Hospitality Management (BBA) This three-year programme is designed to emphasise the importance of hospitality management within the context of commercial realism. The programme includes optional semesters at world renowned universities like Ecole hôtelière de Lausanne in Switzerland or Cornell University in the US. A five-month internship after the first year of studies provides students with valuable real-world work experience. The minimum requirement for application is: 12 years of school [successful completion of higher or secondary school; 5 GCSE (O- Levels) + 3 A-Levels; or an equivalent] with a minimum average grade of C or 75% A internet-based TOEFL score of 61 or IELTS overall band of 5.0 (The TOEFL / IELTS test is a UAE Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research requirement and is mandatory for all students even if English is their first language.) Tuition Fees and Sundries for 3 year programme: AED 298,500 (approx. USD 80,000) Optional on-campus accommodation for 1 year: AED 36,645 (approx. USD 10,000) 2

Associate of Business Administration in International Hospitality Management (ABA) This 18-months programme is designed to prepare graduates for supervisory positions in the industry, after which students may opt to continue their studies with the BBA programme. The same entry requirements to the BBA (Hons) would apply for the Associate of Business Administration degree. The minimum requirement for application is: 12 years of school [successful completion of higher or secondary school; 5 GCSE (O- Levels) + 3 A-Levels; or an equivalent] with a minimum average grade of C or 75% A internet-based TOEFL score of 61 or IELTS overall band of 5.0 (The TOEFL / IELTS test is a UAE Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research requirement and is mandatory for all students even if English is their first language.) Tuition Fees and Sundries for 18 month programme: AED 190,725 (approx. USD 51,000) Optional on-campus accommodation for 1 year: AED 36,645 (approx. USD 10,000) Master of Business Administration in International Hospitality Management (MBA) This programme develops the knowledge, skills and competence of graduate industry professionals to enable them to function effectively at executive, corporate and senior management levels within the contemporary hospitality industry. The programme can be competed in 1 year (full time) or up to 4 years in flexible study mode. The minimum requirement for application is: A Bachelor s degree from an accredited university with a minimum grade-point average (GPA) of 3.0 (out of 4.0) Sufficient relevant work experience normally at least 1 year at supervisory level A internet-based TOEFL score of 79 or IELTS overall band of 6.0 (The TOEFL / IELTS test is a UAE Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research requirement and is mandatory for all students even if English is their first language) Tuition Fees and Sundries for 1 year programme: AED 100,070 (approx. USD 27,000) Optional on-campus accommodation for 1 year: AED 36,645 (approx. USD 10,000) 3

Scholarships for BBA students There are four types of scholarships that are being offered to potential students who intend to pursue the full-time BBA degree: 1. The EAHM Scholarship for Emirati Nationals This is a scholarship awarded annually to Emirati national candidates who meet EAHM s entrance criteria and who can demonstrate a strong commitment to the hospitality industry as a career choice. For successful applicants, tuition fees and sundries will be covered for the duration of study. However, recipients will be required to work for up to an average of 8 hours per week, on projects specified by EAHM. Upon graduation, scholarship recipients will assume full time and continuous employment with Jumeirah International LLC for a period of at least 2 years. 2. The EAHM Scholarship for Academic Excellence 50% for the top 5% This is a scholarship awarded annually to incoming (1st year) students of any nationality who have demonstrated academic excellence in high school and graduated in the top 5% of their graduating cohort, is experiencing financial hardship and who can demonstrate a strong commitment to the hospitality industry as a career choice. For successful applicants, 50% tuition fees and sundries will be covered for the duration of study. However, recipients will be required to work for up to an average of 8 hours per week, on projects specified by EAHM. Upon graduation, scholarship recipients will assume full time and continuous employment with Jumeirah International LLC for a period of at least 2 years. 3. The EAHM Scholarship for Academic Excellence This is a scholarship awarded annually to incoming (1st year) students of any nationality who have demonstrated academic excellence in high school results (usually straight As ), is experiencing financial hardship and who can demonstrate a strong commitment to the hospitality industry as a career choice. For successful applicants, tuition fees and sundries will be either fully or partially covered for the duration of study. However, recipients will be required to work for up to an average of 8 hours per week, on projects specified by EAHM. Upon graduation, scholarship recipients will assume full time and continuous employment with Jumeirah International LLC for a period of at least 2 years. 4. The EAHM-Ronnefeldt Scholarship This is a scholarship awarded annually to incoming (1st year) students of German nationality who have demonstrated academic excellence in high school results (usually straight As ), or has achieved sporting excellence and can demonstrate a strong commitment to the hospitality industry as a career choice. For successful applicants, tuition fees and sundries will be either fully or partially covered for the duration of study. However, recipients will be required to work for up to an average of 8 hours per week, on projects 13 specified by EAHM or Ronnefeldt. Further terms and conditions may apply on a case by case basis. 4

English as a Foreign Language Programme The residential English programme is an intensive immersion course that is delivered over 3 months. All of the classes up to the beginning of the last month are oriented toward general English (English as a Foreign Language EFL ). The EFL classes all meet for 20 hours per week. The last month of the 3-month of the Intermediate level English programme is devoted to TOEFL preparation. The TOEFL preparation classes meet for 12 hours per week for 4 weeks (total of 48 hours). If the student is planning to apply for admission to the degree programme, EAHM will administer the TOEFL exam to the applicant on their premises immediately following the end of the entire 3 months course. The EFL programme is offered in two levels that both begin in January, April or September: Basic EFL is geared towards developing the student s basic English ability. A student may be advised to do another Basic EFL if expected progress is not achieved. Intermediate EFL is geared towards the development of Academic English proficiency. Students who wish to enrol on this programme is required to submit a minimum Institutional paper-based TOEFL score of 450 or the equivalent. The last month of this programme is focused exclusively on Institutional TOEFL Preparation which is followed immediately by the paper-based Institutional TOEFL exam. Tuition Fees and Sundries for 3 months programme: AED 20,250 (approx. USD 5,500) Optional on-campus accommodation for 3 months: AED 13,365 (approx. USD 4,000) Study Abroad Programme EAHM s Study Abroad programme offers unique opportunities for students to study and/or to gain industry experience as part of their home country degree programme. Students may join us in either our January, April or September intakes. There is also an optional internship component which can be completed before or after the courses. The minimum requirements for application is: Be a current undergraduate or postgraduate student of a University Have grades of good standing Be fluent in the English language Tuition Fees, Accommodation and Visa for 3 month Study Abroad programme: USD 12,500 5

Professional Development and Consulting Department The Professional Development and Consulting Department provides high quality services to organisations locally, regionally and internationally in a wide range of areas such as: Talent Retention and Leadership Management; Human Resources and Organisational Development; Food and Beverage Management; Finance and Accounting and Information Technology. The programmes offered are short-term, designed specifically for working executives from the hospitality, tourism or service management industries who wish to develop their skills by experiencing best practices, and further progress within their careers. These programmes and services are delivered by a team of experienced professionals including senior members of EAHM s faculty, most of whom combine real operational experience with their PhD qualifications. Food, Beverage and Restaurant Management Programmes The Food and Beverage programmes include: Kitchen & Restaurant Management in the 21 st Century; Menu Engineering Workshop; Restaurant Revenue Management; Food and Beverage Management Exposure; Food and Beverage Service A Waiter s Workshop. Accounting and Finance Programmes EAHM offers short programmes in: Financial Awareness for Non-Financial Hospitality Managers; Rooms Revenue Management; Understanding Your P&L Statement; and Improving Business Performance, Budgeting for Better Operational Performance and Finance for Spa Managers. Human Resources Management Programmes There are several Human Resources professional training programmes available at EAHM, which range from 14 weeks part-time to one day full time: Human Resources Management; The Art of Interviewing; Coaching and Feedback; Competency Based Interviewing; Positive Attitude and Motivation and The Manager as a Coach. Rooms Division Management Programmes EAHM offers training programmes based on Rooms Division Management. Front Office Operations Management focuses on the development of skills and knowledge in relation to management functions, budgeting and evaluation of the daily front office operations, whereas Effective Housekeeping Management explains the function of the housekeeping department in relation to the success of a property in the provision of quality oriented service at the highest level. General Business Courses At EAHM, our general courses range from one to three days in length and include Inspiration and Motivation - Team Leaders Workshop; Time Management; Presentation Skills; Training Techniques; Telephone Skills as well as a Five Star Customer Service programme and Project Management. Microsoft Office Online Training Programmes EAHM offers a variety of IT programmes which can be delivered on both a group and individual basis. Partnership with American Hotel & Lodging Educational Institute (AHLEI) The Emirates Academy of Hospitality Management has signed an agreement with the American Hotel & Lodging Educational Institute for the delivery of internationally recognised, professional certification programmes, for individuals working in the hospitality industry. Widely recognised as the preeminent leader in hospitality certification, the American Hotel & Lodging Educational Institute (EI) strongly supports and encourages the certification of hospitality professionals in all facets of the industry, including: hotels, food & beverage establishments, trainers, hospitality educators, hotel suppliers and spas. The certification programmes that will run at The Academy will initially include Guest Service Gold (CGSP), Certified Hospitality Supervisor (CHS) and Certified Hospitality Department Trainer (CHDT) with more programmes to be offered over time. 6
