OmniSkore!HD Deployment Overview OmniSkore!HD(OSHD) is a system of systems, consisting of Windows 7 computer systems connected via a 1-gigabit Ethernet network: OSHD Scoring System (or simply OSHD ), a compact Windows 7 PC which features 3 video outputs: One for the video seen by the principal judges One for the Event Judge user interface (main scoring software) One for the public (traditionally called DZ TV ) VTADS(Video Transfer and Distribution System), a laptop used by videographers to transfer their videos into the system JukeBox, a touchscreen-based computer used for on-demand replay of judged competition jumps (complete with all DZ TV enhancements and scoring results), display any score sheet, scoring summary, or standings of any event NetPost, an aplicationwhich updates Internet results to multiple web sites (e.g. the host s web site, the sanctioning organization s web site, and omniskore.com) in real time A minimum deployment consists of one OSHD and one VTADS A Fully Monty deployment may consist of four OSHDs, three VTADS, two JukeBoxes, and NetPost, according to the organizer s needs and desires
OSHD Scoring Computer (Simplified diagram a more detailed example is given in the single judging room on page 5) Event Judge s Display Principal Judges Display (24 30 or 60 75cm)* USB hub Windows 7 OSHD Computer Not shown: Keyboard and Mouse Firewall router Ethernet cable from firewall router Printer Power cables HDMI output to DZ TV display 1 to 5 Judging Consoles Connected to the OSHD Computer (a USB hub is only necessary to extend the distance between the computer and judges) Size is approximately 15 x 5 x 3.5 cm (6 x 2 x 1.5 inches) *It is not required that all judges view a single display. Individual displays may be connected via an HDMI splitter, but in such case, all displays must be the same resolution.
VTADS (Video Transfer and Distribution System) Videographers may connect camcorder directly to USB cable or use USB thumb drive or memory card VTADS is a smart distributor : Videos are transferred (copied) to the VTADS laptopand automatically transcoded to AVCHD when a non-avchd format is provided File naming is automatic videographer selects event, team number, and round number to begin A confirmation form allows the videographer to confirm that the correct video, team, and round are selected before committing to the transfer One, two, or three VTADS stations may be used Normally one VTADS is needed for every two active OSHD scoring systems Host may provide additional laptops as desired (Windows 7 32- or 64-bit with Gigabit Ethernet port) Memory Card Reader Mini-USB cable to camera Ethernet cable to Firewall router
JukeBox The JukeBox is an OmniSkore!HDoriginal! Large HDTV Any competitor or spectator can operate the touch screen display to select any of the following to display on the nearby HDTV: Replay of any judged team / round Score sheet for any team / round Standings for any active event Portable touch Screen interface
Public DZ TV Display (the bigger the better, 1920x1080 strongly recommended) OSHD setup diagram for a single judging room (one system) A network cable goes into this room and connects to the OSHD Scoring Computer. An HDMI video cable goes into this room and connects to the OSHD Scoring Computer. A total of 3 displays are connected to the computer. A printer may or may not be in the room, but at least one is expected to be present on the network. For five judges, two parallel folding or utility tables are recommended, one behind the other, with two judges in the back table. (This layout was proven to be effective at the 2012 FAI World Cup, Prostejov.) Beer garden tables are the best, because they are not too deep. Principal Judges Display (24 30 or 60 75cm) Event Judge s Display HDMI to Public TV Cat-6 or Cat-5E Ethernet to Firewall Router OSHD Scoring Computer USB hub Equipment provided by the organizer: Standard computer power cable (110-220V AC) Displays (3) Printer(s) Power strips as necessary Hand-held Judging Consoles (actual size: 15 x 5 x 3.5 cm)
OmniSkore!HD Multiple System Overview Example Each OSHD computer has a friendly network name, as shown here Up to 3 VTADS (video transfer) laptops (normally 1 for every 2 active OSHD systems) All computers (OSHD, VTADS, JukeBox, etc) are connected to the same firewall (1G speed), using additional hubs as necessary The Firewall Router may or may not be connected to the Internet If the Firewall Router is not connected to the Internet, NetPost uses two LAN interfaces, one for the router and one to the Internet Not shown: DZ TV displays for RAFF and OMAR JukeBox1 Public Displays RAFF VTADS1 VTADS2 SHERRY KLAUS SHERRY 1G Firewall Router OMAR DALE OMAR NetPost Internet DALE Cable Legend: HDMI Ethernet (Cat 5E or 6) USB
Organizer/Host Requirements Competition hosts are expected to provide: HD TV Displays (as shown in previous slides) Minimum resolution 1280x720; 1920x1080 is strongly recommended for all displays Must accept either HDMI or DVI inputs The DZ TV displays are not mandatory, an OSHD system will operate without one Power strips, folding / utility tables as necessary Judging rooms are expected to be sufficiently cooled Computer power cables (if not in US) Coordinate with OSHD for type and quantity Mostly C5 cables (for laptops / AC-DC adapters); some standard PC cables Cat-5E (or -6) Ethernet cables OSHD will provide a number of short cables, but due to volume and weight of longer cables, it is more economical for hosts to provide cables longer than 3 meters Broadband Internet connectivity Please contact Ted Wagner at tedcwagner@gmail.com for additional information.
