Page 14 of Catalog: Revision Attendance Policy for Vocational Nursing Program Students are expected to attend all classes and are responsible for all announcements and course content. VN Students may only be absent a total of 32 hours each term. Didactic class hours, as well as, clinical attendance hours are combined for the required hours each student must attend every term. There are NO EXCUSED ABSENCES. Each student is required to sign in and out of classes, including clinical assignments. If student does not sign, they are marked absent. Attendance is deducted in fifteen minute increments. Any student who misses more than the allowed 32 hours per term will be immediately dismissed from the program. It is the student s responsibility to monitor and maintain control over their attendance hours. Students should not rely on warnings from faculty to avoid attendance policy violation. It is mandatory each VN student complete the required hours each term to be allowed to proceed to the next appropriate level; graduate and participate in NCLEX examination for licensure. Tardies Tardiness to class, lab or clinical is considered unprofessional conduct just as it is in the workplace. If a student is absent from lecture, lab or clinical at the beginning, after scheduled breaks or leaves early, the student will be advised. Four occurrences of tardiness within any day course or seven occurrences of tardiness within any evening term may result in student being withdrawn from the program. At no time will a student be allowed to sit in school to satisfy attendance hours without participating in or completing required test or study assignments. If a student is too ill to test, they must sign out and leave the campus. Make-up will be according to the policy. Students who arrive to the campus or a clinical site with fever or contagious symptoms will be sent home and hours missed will count towards their maximum absences allowed.
