Engage students and encourage them to critically think about implications of transnational corporations, corporate social responsibility, and outsourcing. Focus heavily on advanced qualitative research projects. Middle Eastern Studies Spring 2010 Comparative study of value systems and codes of conduct embraced by or practiced in the Middle East. Critical examination and analysis of fundamental assumptions. Engaged analyses of living in a post 9-11 world. Global Studies & Gender Relations Summer 2009 Develop independent course tying together globalization and its implications for women of color the world over. Critically examine role of the U.S. in perpetuating or alleviating the status of women of color. Advised student on research techniques and possible actions for global social change. African American Youth in Education Fall 2009 Develop an independent course for senior thesis research paper about African American youth and high school achievement. Notions of institutionalized racism, classism, and possible solutions are explored. Qualitative research project discerning how ethnocentric educational techniques harm African American youth. The Ebonics debate is covered. Working toward a completion of literature review for senior thesis. First Year Experience Fall 2014 Led in class-discussion about first year challenges.
