The University College of Teacher Education The University College of Teacher Education in Lower Austria is situated in Baden and was founded in 1968. In 1976 a new single-site campus was opened. It is only a 12-minute walk away from the train station and 3 minutes from the Baden tram stop (Pfaffstätten-Trabrennplatz). Presently about 1250 students are studying at the university college. The 30-year-old college building and its up-to-date equipment are well suited for teacher education. The spacious buildings house all the necessary lecture halls and seminar rooms as well as the practice school for primary education. The practice school for secondary education is approximately 2.5 km away. It can easily be reached by public transport.
Studying at the University College of Teacher Education The University College of Teacher Education in Lower Austria offers students who hold a university entry exam (Matura, A levels, Abitur...) a 6-semester Bachelor of Education degree programme. Language requirements A sound knowledge of German or English is a requirement for successful study. Non-German ERASMUS-students are offered a German language course in addition to regular classes. The University College of Teacher Education in Lower Austria has a long tradition of successful co-operation with other Austrian Universities of Education and European universities and colleges. Guest students are fully integrated into classes and seminars. All courses meet the criteria of the European Credit Transfer System (ECTS) and are fully recognised within the European Union. Support services Library A branch of the State Library for Education is located in the University College of Teacher Education in Lower Austria. Students union The students representatives are elected every year. The students union office is on the ground floor.
The academic year The academic year starts with enrolment on the first Monday in October, which has to be completed within four weeks. The academic year ends on September, 30th. The City of Baden Baden, a spa town with approximately 30.000 inhabitants, is located 23 km south of Vienna and east of the Vienna Woods. As Baden is situated in Austria s warmest climatic zone, the climate is moderate with plenty of sunshine and favourable temperatures. The town is a recognized health area. As early as Roman times, the sulphur springs were used to cure illnesses. Vineyards around the town and extensive forests to the west characterize Baden s charming location. Today Baden is also a place for socialising and meeting people: various theatres, concerts, the largest casino in Europe, the wine pub tradition (Heurigen) and numerous cultural events offer opportunities to relax.

Catering facilities and Accommodation Restaurant facilities on campus provide everything from a simple coffee and sandwich to a full meal at the cafeteria, which is also a place to meet and socialise.
