01 INTRODUCTION This brochure was prepared by the Tourism & Hospitality Management School and adapted from the booklet produced by the Organisation for Tourism and Hospitality Management (OTHM) to inform Learners about the delivery and assessment of the OTHM Diplomas in Tourism and Hospitality Management qualificationlevel 4, Level 5 and Level 6. The Organisation for Tourism and Hospitality Management (OTHM) is a UK based Awarding Organisation approved and regulated by Ofqual (Office of Qualifications and Examinations Regulation). 02 WHO IS THIS QUALIFICATION SUITABLE FOR 2.1. Diploma Level 4 (OTHM/ISEC) The OTHM Level 4 Diploma in Business Management (QCF) is suitable for learners who have already gained an OTHM Level 3 diploma qualifications or who have qualifications at the level of GCE/GCSE or equivalent. It is also suitable for mature learners with relevant work experience. This qualification will help team leaders and supervisors and those who want to rise to the first tier of management. You must be 18 years or older at the beginning of the course. On passing the OTHM Level 4 Diploma in Business Management (QCF) learners will be eligible to be considered for the OTHM Level 5 Diploma in Business Management (QCF). Learners must pass all level 4 units to be eligible to join the OTHM Level 5 Diploma. Upon successful completion students will also be awarded a Diploma Básico em Gestão de Empresas from Instituto Superior de Educação e Ciências. 2.2. Diploma Level 5 (OTHM/ISEC) The OTHM Level 5 Diploma in Business Management (QCF) is suitable for learners who have already gained an OTHM Level 4 Diploma qualifications or equivalent. It is also suitable for mature learners with at least 5 years of relevant experience. This qualification will help team leaders and supervisors and those who want to rise to the first tier of management. You must be 18 years or older at the beginning of the course. On passing the OTHM Level 5 Diploma in Business Management (QCF) learner will be eligible to be considered for the OTHM Level 6 Diploma in Business Management (QCF) or entry to a range of higher education courses offered by a large number of Higher Education Institutions. Upon successful completion students will also be awarded a Diploma Superior Intermédio em Gestãode Empresas from Instituto Superior de Educação e Ciências. 2.3. Diploma Level 6 (OTHM/ISEC) The qualification in Business Management at Level 6 will provide learners with an advanced qualification that supports their development as manager within the industry with a lifelong-learning orientation; enable learners to critically evaluate contemporary knowledge and theories; enable learners to use these to propose solutions to complex management problems in theindustry; provide learners with the ability to apply and adapt specialist skills and technical terminology to develop their management skills in the industry; enable learners to make decisions about leadership, planning and management of work areas in the industry which are informed by best practice and contemporary research. The programme will allow learners to acquire a range of knowledge and understanding as well as to develop some of the key skills required to work as a business manager. Successful completion of the Level 6 Diploma in Business Management provides the opportunity for a wide range of other academic programmes including progression to OTHM Level 7 Diploma. The Level 6 Diploma in Business Management has been developed with career progression and professional recognition in mind. OTHM has progression arrangement with a number of UK universities which acknowledges the ability of learners after studying Level 3-7 qualifications to be considered for advanced entry into corresponding degree year/top up and masters/top-up programmes. Upon successful completion students will also be awarded a Diploma Superior Avançado em Gestãode Empresas from Instituto Superior de Educação e Ciências. T&HMS 15

Diploma Level 5 Units Level 5 Diploma in Business Management Human Resource Management Project Management Marketing Management and Planning Financial Accounting Business Law Corporate Social Responsibility and Governance UK Credits The qualification is offered through the medium of English. 3.3. Diploma Level 6 Units Level 6 Diploma in Business Management Leadership and Organisational Behaviour Business Project Operations Management Financial Decision Making Sustainable Business Practices Strategic Human Resource Management UK Credits The qualification is offered through the medium of English. 5.2. English for Academic Studies All students attending any of the previously mentioned Diplomas will also attend classes of English for Academic Studies. These classes will enable the students to progress in their knowledge of the English language and particularly in its use in academic writing and speaking. 3.5. Portuguese Language Studies Also, all students who do not come from a majority a Portuguese-speaking country will attend extra classes of Portuguese as Foreign Language. This will enable them to learn the language and engage in the Portuguese community and lifestyle. T&HMS 15
04 ASSESSMENT All units related to OTHM qualifications are internally assessed by the Tourism & Hospitality Management School/ISEC and externally verified by OTHM. The qualifications are criterion referenced based on the achievement of all the specified learning outcomes.in order to achieve a pass for a unit, a learner must have successfully passed all the assessment criteria for that unit. All units related to the Portuguese Language studies are internally assessed by ISEC and externally verified by the Tourism & Hospitality Management School/ISEC. All units related to the English for Academic Studies are internally assessed by and externally verified by the Tourism & Hospitality Management School. 05 RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING AND ACHIEVEMENT Within this suite of qualifications, learners will have the opportunity to build their achievements from a single unit into a composite qualification. Learners may apply to claim for credit transfer and exemption where they have completed relevant units and qualifications from other Awarding Organisations. Credit transfer in the QCF will be based on confirmation of achievement of QCF units. 06 PARTNERSHIP WITH ISEC The Tourism & Hospitality Management School/ISEC will be working in partnership with ISEC - Instituto Superior de Educação e Ciências, in the deliverance of the Diplomas. ISEC is a Portuguese Higher Education provider located in Lisbon. T&HMS 15
07 ISEC CAMPUS The Tourism & Hospitality Management School will be functioning at the ISEC Campus in Lisbon. All students will have access to the same facilities as other ISEC s students. The campus is located in the centre of the city, at 179 Alameda das Linhas de Torres, 1750-142 Lisbon. The campus is easily accessed by public transportation. The campus has several partner student residences, some of which are exclusively dedicated to international students and comprise of accommodation, all services and facilities (cleaning, water, electricity, Wi-Fi) and lounge areas where students can study and relax. The Tourism & Hospitality Management School wants to make sure that all students have an excellent experience while studying in Portugal. T&HMS 15
08 TIMETABLE AND CLASSES The Tourism & Hospitality Management School s courses will take place either in the morning or in the afternoon. One group of students will have classes each morning from 9 am to 1 pm and the other group of students will have classes from 2pm to 6 pm. The lecturers of these classes will either be delivering on a face to face environment or through synchronous webinars from London, thus ensuring that the best faculty is engaged in these courses. There will also be local lecturers who will be in charge of the tutorials and delivering the Portuguese classes. All lecturers will have vast experience of teaching besides relevant professionalknowledge. T&HMS 15
