Projects Union Bank of Switzerland Junior Programmer I started my career at UBS in Zurich developing Programs for the Financial Future Application, which was installed in a banking operating system called ABACUS. After the successful installation of the application I was called to work for the Project UBS-Clear to maintain programs for the Treasury-Application (i.e. Interfaces to the application UBS-Clear). Kuoni Travel Organization Application Programmer At the Travel Organization Kuoni I worked in the Project Komet. I had to develop an application, which allowed the user to print travel documents online. The application was written in COBOL and accessed VSAM KSDS-Datasets. SVRB (Raffeisenbank of Switzerland) Senior Programmer After my return from my 8 month stay in Brazil, I started at the Raiffeisenbank in St.Gallen maintaining COBOL programs on a NCR Host. Soon I could change to the Project called Challenge. The objective of this project was the Implementation of the banking software THE BOSS on IBM a IBM OS/390 and migrating the data from the NCR to the IBM Host System. The application is mostly written in Natural using ADABAS-C as Database. Some Batch programs are written in PL/1 an almost every time-critical modules are written in Assembler. My first task was writing some Online and Batch programs for the Securities Application of THE BOSS. After about four month, I was called to the team, which should implement the mortgage application. I was responsible for the Online programs and had to design the entire Batch Jobs for the scheduler. All of the Batch Jobs run under the scheduler JOBTRAC. After the successful installation of the mortgage application in October 1996, I was then responsible for the maintenance of the entire application until I left the company in October 1997. Helvetia Patria Insurances IT-Engineer My first task at this company was to design a database (DB2), write some COBOL Online programs and a batch programs to enable the user to print labels for internal and external publications like the annual report. I am also responsible for maintaining and writing all the SQL modules, which access the client partner database. This modules are written in COBOL with embedded SQL to encapsulate the data structure to the application. My third responsibility is, to help building and enlarging our intranet. I am responsible for designing and coding the applications and websites, as well as acting as a consulter for technical questions, to the departments, which would like to design and publish their own websites on our intranet. Helvetia Patria Insurances Project Manager In the year 1999 I was leading a Project called C@mbio. The project's goal was to implement a repository based Change and Configuration Management System. Here are few highlights of the project: - Setting up a complete new Repository Architecture (with Viasofts Rochade 5.2 using their new Technology called Rochade Framework and Rochade Discovery), which would allow to store the metadata of the IT-Department (Software as well as Hardware data) - Evaluating and Implementing new Configuration Management Tools - Define and implement the whole Change Management processes from the entry of a Change Request to the delivery and deployment of the deliverables - Implementing the Change and Configurations Management Processes in a workflow management system - As an "Add-on" the project also was going to take a look at possible solutions for the Re-use / Re-find Management (the analysis, design and possible prototype would have been given to one or more students for a thesis) Unfortunately, the project was cancelled, at the time we have been designing the new Repository architecture and evaluating the new Change and Configuration Management tools. That was the reason, why I left the company, to establish my own enterprise called Steg IT-Engineering. More Information about my new company will shortly be available on the Internet. My Thesis (Project SYNEMA) Software-Engineer My thesis for the post-graduation course in Software-Engineering, was developing a database backed Intranet-Application. I designed and implemented the application using the DB2 WWW Gateway to access data on a OS/390 Mainframe DB2 database. The intranet application is divided in the following three web sites: A workflow management system for the human resource division to control the process of a new staff members. An inhouse course management system for the education division. It s also possible for every employee to subscribe for a specific course online. A staff Bulletin Board for the staff to introduce themselves to their fellowworkers. My own IT enterprise Steg IT-Engineering In May 2000 I established Steg IT-Engineering, a company providing services in Change and Configuration Management and Repository Management. Since then, I have been in charge of different roles mainly in the so called Wirtschaftsinformatik (IT Engineering). Since October 2005 I am also owner of Steg IT-Engineering GmbH (Ltd.). SIZ, Bonn (Germany) - Design and Implementation of a Re-find Management System based on Rochade My first contract as a freelancer was at the Informatik Zentrum der Sparkassenorganisation, in Bonn. Using the Rochade Repository we designed and implemented a repositorybased Re-find Management System, which allows users to search for specific, pre-defined information. My responsibility was to design and implement the Information Model necessary for this task and write the code in RPL, Rochade Procedure Language. The entire business logic was written in RPL, while the presentation was coded using C++. atraxis, Zurich (Switzerland) - Solution Approach for a Software Configuration Management for JAVA / CORBA Applications A project of Atraxis, a subsidiary of the SairGroup, requested a study about solution approaches for their configuration management. The project got quite complex requirements to the configuration management, like permanent variants, and a very complex product structure, which had to be handled by CM. Credit Suisse, Zurich (Switzerland) Project Management, Design, Implementation, Coaching and Support of a Release Management Solution for the Unix platform according to ITIL Credit Suisse has implemented a release management solution according to ITIL for the Unix platform, supporting the layers operating system, middleware and business application to be automatically distributed and installed on pre-defined Unix systems. The system has been integrated in the System Change Management workflow and the developers source code repository in order to allow a highly automated distribution process.
