UNIX/Linux - Windows aware. The last years I have concentrated on UNIX scripting roles using UNIX shells, ksh, bash, zsh, Bourne, plus Perl, SQL, Python and Jython. I'm happy in any UNIX environment position as long as I do spend time scripting! I started my computer career as an operator on IBM and CDC Mainframes and on Digital PDP mini computers in the early 80s. Since then I've been a Cobol Programmer, a Development Manager a Systems Manager an ADP Manager for the Australian Defence and for the last 20 years a UNIX Systems Engineer working as a consultant. I learned UNIX on IBM's RT computers running AIX in the mid 80s and have been involved with UNIX ever since. I like to work at the UNIX shell and I love writing UNIX shell, Perl and Python scripts. I'm very familiar with the UNIX shell programming environment and enjoy exploiting the shell and it's tools and languages. I like installing and configuring servers, applications and systems from web servers to Oracle databases and almost anything that requires shell work. I particularly like to monitor and trying to figure out what is going wrong in systems by analysing log files and data. I like to write UNIX shell, Perl and Python scripts to analyse log files.. I like network, and LAMP servers and technologies, in my spare time and as a hobby I manage and administer 4 WEB/Mail Debian and Ubuntu Linux servers.

2 When I talk about UNIX above I am talking about UNIX and UNIXlike systems such as Linux, Mac OS X, HP UX, Solaris, AIX, and so on. In my spare time away from my computers I ride a mountain bike, a BMW motorbike and I spend several hours a week in a gym. In between that I like to learn new programming languages and techniques. 4 June 98 to December 2001 EOS Informatics Professional Services During this period I have undertaken the following assignments: KPN Orange Corporate IT Infrastructure Inventory Project (October 2001 to December 2001) I was responsible for carrying out an inventory of the corporate servers and recommending guidelines for standard systems. This assignment involved auditing the existing systems installed in the Data Centre and defining a set of standard configurations (hardware, operating system, system software) for different functions (database server, applications server, back-up server, etc.). The corporate systems were based on HP-UX and Sun Solaris servers. EOS Network Migration to MS Windows 2000 (April 01 to September 2001) I am responsible for the migration of the EOS NT4 network to Windows 2000 and Exchange. This has involved planning the migration, briefing and educating the user community and carrying out the technical migration. The backup solution implemented is based on the VERITAS software. Hewlett-Packard Brussels HP-C Level(3) Project (July 00 to April 01) I worked as an operational, systems support and development person, providing support and assistance to the HP-C project manager. Tasks undertaken included: IT Support. Windows NT, Applications, Linux Redhat and SuSE Operational Management Webmaster. Macromedia Dreamweaver 4, Macromedia Fireworks, PhotoShop Development. Unix Korn Shell, Perl, JavaScript, html and asp KONE International, Brussels (March 99 to June 00) At KONE I was responsible for the management of KONE s UNIX SAP Servers. The systems were outsourced to Hewlett-Packard and my tasks included: Supervision of KONE s customer service and the SLA with HP and resolution of any service quality issues Day to day management and troubleshooting of technical and service issues that occurred at HP (performance, response times, back-ups, network issues, service changes, etc.) Reporting on service quality to KONE management (IT and Customer departments) Perl programming as required to resolve systems problems and requirements Hewlett-Packard Brussels (June 98 to Feb 99) I was assigned to the outsourcing department (OSC) where I worked as a Technical Account Manager. In this role I was responsible for the system management of nominated client systems that were installed at HP. Tasks included: Complete UNIX and NT systems administration

5 Managing service quality to ensure that service targets to clients were achieved Second level problem solving Nov 89 to May 98 European Commission DGV I joined the European Commission as a freelance contractor assigned to DGV s European Social Fund, a department responsible for European Social Funding to combat unemployment. My role was to implement, manage and administer the directorate s informatics installations. During my time at DGV the installation and team grew, and the installation in 1998 comprised Pyramid UNIX servers, Intel based SCO UNIX Servers all over Europe, and NT Domains, File and Print servers with NT/Windows client systems. My tasks included: Installation and set-up of servers (UNIX and NT) System and network administration Script programming as required User liaison over service issues and resolution of problems Europe wide Coaching and training of junior technical staff Installation and administration of systems installed in DGV offices in other Member States While at the European Commission I also undertook a short assignment to install and configure a number of NT servers and workstations for various Belgian Federal government departments.
