INTRODUCTION So you've purchased our Reseller or Master Reseller account and you're not sure what to do next? This starter guide is designed to introduce you to WHM (or Web Host Manager) and familiarize yourself with all of its functionality. And if you are under our Master Resellers account at ACLOY HOSTING, you will get to understand how to begin creating sub reseller using the latest plugin installed called ZAMFOO. ACLOYHOSTING.COM is using this guide to serve her clients with technical support by making them help themselves easily without the usual frustration that is encountered when beginning the journey into the web hosting business. This is a quick starter guide which mean, it deals with the major features in order to get you acquainted to using your WHM. WEB HOST MANAGER Web Host Manager - WHM is the admin control panel for resellers and master resellers hosting accounts. Through WHM you can administer your Reseller account and all of its accounts, while master reseller account feature on the other hand makes use of (Zamfoo) plugin. From the WHM you can set up and manage accounts, monitor Bandwidth, services, and much more - all aspects of web hosting are covered through Web Host Manager. You can keep track of the accounts on your server, their bandwidth, disk space usage, and more with only an Internet connection and the click of a button. Home Screen ofwhm The main screen contains a quick access to all features of thewhm manger while the left panel contains detailed access. For example when you click on Account information, you will get sub menus such as List Accounts, List Parked Domains, List Subdomains, List Suspended Accounts e.t.c which allows you to perform certain tasks based on what you really want.!
When you scroll through your left panel, you will discover it is an expansion of what you see on your home screen. At this stage of mastering how to use your WHM there are some basic task that you virtually cannot do without or else running your web hosting business will be useless. They include creating and managing your custom web hosting packages, creating new accounts, terminating account when your client violate terms, suspending/ unsuspending accounts and if you are operating a master reseller account you need to know how to create sub resellers account. These are what you are quickly going to learn while others can intuitively be learnt by yourself without much struggle.
ACCESSING YOUR WEB HOST MANAGER You can log in to the WHM via http://www.yourdomain.com/whm Or http://www.yourdomain.com:2086 (where yourdomain.com is your actual domain name). Which displays a screen similar to this. Type in the login details given to you when you signed up and click on login. You can also access WHM from your cpanel simply by scrolling to the bottom of your cpanel and locate WHM icon under advance tab.
CREATING YOUR PACKAGES Before you can ever start selling your web hosting service, the first thing you must have done is to create your hosting packages as without this, you cannot create accounts for your clients. As a reseller, you may create your own custom hosting packages, with features and limitations of your choice. For example, you might wish to offer clients a package limited to 500MB of space, or 5 email addresses. These packages are defined using the WHM from the Packages icon. You can create many packages depending on what you want; giving each package a name. Let say basic, advanced, premium, gold, bronze e.t..c. To create a package Locate the package icon from the home screen And when it opens up click on Add a Package Instead of that little long process, you can simply scroll from left panel and try locating Packages then click on Add a Package That action will open up a page that allows you to set limits to package to be creating such Quota usually measured in MegaByte (MB) which stands for the amount of disk space a specific package is allocated, monthly bandwidth which is also in MegaByte, maximum number of FTP account, maximum number of email accounts e.t.c.
Once you are done click on the blue button labeled Add to create your package. As time goes on there may be need to edit a package or even delete one. Mind you deleting a package may have drastic effect on accounts that are using such a package. When such a need arise it is just a matter of following the steps as to creating a package.
CREATING ACCOUNT FOR CLIENTS Now that you have created a package and maybe create all you web hosting packages. It is time to begin setting up web hosting accounts from clients and this can be achieved using you re a section for your WHM called Account function. Account Function This area allows you to create, terminate, suspend and un-suspend accounts as well as change passwords for clients. When you have a domain name available to create, you would have to choose the Create a New Account option and fill out the necessary details. Note: Before proceeding with creating an account, you must have registered a domain name for your clients and set the domain name server to your custom name server before it can work properly. If you do not have a registrar yet these sites can be helpful www.007names.com, www.netfirms.com this can be done using credit cards. If you don t have a credit card, we can create an account for you at 007names and load a minimum of $50 plus $20 loading fee.
To Create 1. Simply scroll from your left panel and click on Create a New Account under Account Functions which will open up something like this image: 2. Enter the registered domain, Username will automatically be created using the first eight characters of the entered domain name. 3. You then type a password; preferably generate one using the Password Generator button. Select a package form the list, which you most have created before. 5. You may want to ignore Setting section for now. 6. From the DNS Setting section, check the box to use name server form registered domain name. 7. Check Automatically Detect Configuration from Mail Setting Section. 8. The Click on the blue button labeled Create. 9. Wait for confirmation message to display after loading.
ZAMFOO MASTER RESELLER This is a Master Reseller plugin that was recently replaced from the traditional WHMReseller. This is the section that will facilitate the administration of your sub reseller s accounts; it can also assist in the management of cpanel account as this is an extension of WHM that come handy. To start using Zamfoo Plugin To access the master reseller features from Zamfoo plugin, scroll your left panel to the extreme and click on Zamfoo Master Reseller under Plugin, which will display it menus like this: You will notice above that there are different sections that are self explanatory. So we have the WHM ACCOUNTS section, which allows you to list all WHM sub resellers account, show WHM account set, removewhm package autogrants and much more.
And the CPANEL ACCOUNTS which can also be used to perform tasks that can also be done from Account Function that we have talked about before. ADMIN FUNCTION is also there such as Upgrading or downgrading any accounts in case clients request to be migrated from one package to another given certain administrative rights. CREATING A SUB RESELLER ACCOUNT Before you can create a sub reseller account, you must first create the packages that you want your reseller account to be limited to, as cpanel account have their own packages, so will sub resellers account too. You should know that by instinct. Once the package has been created the next thing to do is to set autogrant. This means when you set a package to autogrant, it will automatically assign administrative rights to any account that is been created such account will then be able to have access to WHM for creating its own cpanel accounts. Setting Autogrant First create a package to be used for reseller account. Open up your Zamfoo Master Reseller area and click on Set/Remove WHM Autogrant under WHM ACCOUNTS
You will notice that all the packages you have created will be displayed. The next step of action is to select a package and click on Add/Set AutoGrant button from the right side of the screen. Repeat the same process for every package that will be used for sub reseller account. When done, you will notice they are displayed in the down part of the screen. Like this: You can remove autogrant at any time but as long there are account in them, they should not be removed at all else you may have trouble with your clients. Finally, after creating packages that will be used for reseller accounts, Follow the same process for creating new accounts making sure you select the packages for reseller s account that has autogrant rights. The magic will be performed automatically.
CREATING NAME SERVER FOR RESELLERS CLIENTS Just as you have your own custom name server, your sub reseller also need to have their own name server to make them independent and anonymous just as you are with ACLOYHOSTING but the choice is yours anyway if you wish to allow them create name servers using their domain names. Basically this can be done from the registrar that you have chosen to register domain names with. In order to achieve this you must register the desired name of the client s domain name which is usually something like ns1.domainname.com, ns2.domainname.com so that your sub resellers can create their clients account using their own domain name. Different domain name registrars have different ways of making you do this which requires you doing so using our name server ip address. ACLOYHOSTING Name Server ip Addresses When registering name servers for clients, you are requested to enter an ip address and it must be a valid ip address of our server or else it will not work properly. Below are the two ip addresses for both name servers: Name server IP 1: 174.142.167.35 Name server IP 2: 174.142.167.36
