The steps described are similar for the various operating systems, but there are slight differences between them. Page 1 of 11
1 Firmware History 1.1 Applicable Models TC-26LX85, TC-32LX85 1.2 Firmware Version Hudson2 1.11 1.3 Release Date 29 October 2008 1.4 Purpose Corrects symptom where picture is displayed without color (black & white picture) when using coaxial (RF) cable connection from DVD player, DVD/VCR combination unit, or DVD Recorder (including those with built-in VCR). Corrects symptom where multiple TIMERs correctly function the first day, but on 2 nd and subsequent days only TIMER 1 functions, but TIMER 2 fails to turn the TV on at the set time. Corrects symptom where TIMERs fail if the channel number programmed is between 10 ~ 99 (a 2-digit channel). Page 2 of 11
2 Download Firmware 1) Left click on the DOWNLOAD icon for the LX85 TV Hudson2 firmware. - LX85 LCD TV Hudson2 Firmware Update 2) Left click on SAVE. The file name displayed should be Hudson2.zip. 3) Left click on DESKTOP, and then left click on SAVE. NOTE: The Hudson2.zip file will be placed on the DESKTOP. Page 3 of 11
3 Format SD Card Use one of the below methods to format an SD Card. CAUTION: Formatting irretrievably deletes all the data on the SD Card, including any protected content. Check the SD Card carefully to verify there are not any files which should not be deleted before proceeding with formatting the SD Card. 3.1 Using SD Formatter Software NOTE: The SD Formatter software can be downloaded from the Panasonic USA support site. 1) Insert an SD Card into the SD Card Slot built-in to the computer or into an SD Card Reader/Writer attached to the computer. NOTE: If the below screen appears after inserting the SD Card into the SD Card Reader/Writer or SD Card Slot, left click on CANCEL. 2) Click on START, mouse over ALL PROGRAMS, mouse over PANASONIC, mouse over SDFORMATTER, and then left click on SDFORMATTER. NOTE: The version of SD Formatter displayed in ALL PROGRAMS will be dependent upon the version downloaded and installed. 3) Select the drive designated as the SD Card Drive from the drop down list, and then left click on FORMAT. CAUTIONS: Do NOT remove the SD Card from the SD Card Slot or SD Card Reader/Writer during the formatting process. Do NOT disconnect the SD Card Reader/Writer from the computer during the formatting process. 4) Left click on OK. NOTE: During the formatting process, the below screen will be displayed. 5) Left click on OK. 6) Left click on EXIT. Page 5 of 11
3.2 Using the Windows XP Format Option 1) Insert an SD Card into the SD Card Slot built-in to the computer or into an SD Card Reader/Writer attached to the computer. NOTE: If the below screen appears after inserting the SD Card into the SD Card Reader/Writer or SD Card Slot, left click on CANCEL. 2) Double click on the MY COMPUTER icon on the DESKTOP. 3) Right click on SECURE DIGITAL STORAGE DEVICE (the SD Card Reader/Writer Drive), and then left click on FORMAT. 4) Ensure FAT is selected under FILE SYSTEM, and then left click on START. 5) Left click on OK. 6) After formatting is complete, left click on OK. 7) Left click on CLOSE. Page 7 of 11
4 Extract Firmware to SD Card 1) Insert the formatted SD Card into the SD Card Slot or SD Card Reader/Writer, if the SD Card has been removed. 2) Right click on the Hudson2.zip icon on the DESKTOP and then left click on EXTRACT ALL. 3) Left click on NEXT. Page 8 of 11
4) Left click on BROWSE. 5) Left click on [+] to the left of MY COMPUTER (if it is not already expanded), left click on the SECURE DIGITAL STORAGE DEVICE (the drive assigned to the SD Card Reader/Writer or the SD Card Slot on the PC), and then left click on OK. Page 9 of 11
NOTE: The drive letter displayed in the below screen will be dependent upon the drive letter assigned to the SD Card Reader/Writer or SD Card Slot on the PC. 6) Left click on NEXT. 7) Verify the SHOW EXTRACTED FILES check box is checked and then left click FINISH. 8) Verify the below files appear in the window displaying the contents of the SD Card and then close the window by left clicking on the X in the upper right corner. 5 Install Firmware CAUTIONS: Do not turn the TV OFF or press any buttons on the TV while the firmware update is in progress. Do not remove the SD Card from the SD Card Slot during the firmware update process. 1) Power the TV ON. 2) Insert the SD Card with the firmware update into the SD Card Slot on the side of the TV. 3) Perform the actions requested on the TV screen until a message indicating the firmware update is complete, then: Remove the SD Card from the TV s SD Card Slot. Power the TV OFF. Unplug the power cord from the electrical outlet for at least 30 seconds. Re-plug the power cord into the electrical outlet. Power the TV ON. CAUTION: Do not power the TV off or press any buttons if an initializing or updating message is displayed. 4) Complete the FIRST TIME SETUP. Select the Language. Set the Clock. Program the Channels.
