Thereinliestheinnovators dilemma,paper processversion:thegrowingrequirementforbusiness processautomationisrunninghead onintotheproblemofcapturingpaper basedinformationina digitalform.whilescanningandmaintainingadigitalfacsimileofadocumentcansufficeinsome limitedcases,failingtofullycapturetheinformationenteredonagivenpieceofpapercanhavethe effectofgroundingkeyelementsofprocessautomationina20 th centurypieceofun digitizedpaper. Thisisparticularlytrueforprocessesinwhichthepaperdocumentispartofaprocessworkflowand wheretheactualinformationentereddeterminesthenextsteporstepsintheprocess.
