PERIPROSTHETIC IMPLANTS PRODUCT OVERVIEW

CLINICAL SOLUTIONS Periprosthetic fractures present unique challenges, such as how to gain fixation when the medullary canal is occupied. Special techniques and products have been developed to address these fractures. Benefits of Variable Angle Locking Variable angle locking screws provide the ability to create a fixed-angle construct while also allowing the surgeon the freedom to choose the screw trajectory. A fixed-angle construct provides improved fixation in osteopenic bone or multi-fragmentary fractures.* With Synthes Variable Angle LCP locking screw technology, screws may be placed (angulated) within a cone of 30 around the central axis of the plate hole. Variable angle locking provides options for screw positioning and offers many benefits, allowing the surgeon to: Target fragments with highquality bone, especially in patients with osteopenic bone Adjust screw direction after bending the plate Position screw precisely to avoid joint penetration Redirect screw position to avoid existing implants, prosthesis, or independent lag screws Adapt screw position to accommodate varied patient anatomy and capture fracture fragments *Note: Mechanical test data on file at Synthes 2 DePuy Synthes Periprosthetic Product Overview

CABLE SYSTEM Orthopaedic Cable System Weave design for greater flexibility Stainless steel, titanium, and cobalt chromium alloy Ergonomic trigger handle instrumentation designed for one-hand operation Cerclage buttons and positioning pins to capture the cable making every plate hole an option for cable attachment Trochanteric Reattachment Device Cables preassembled in the device to aid in handling and insertion Large proximal hooks to grab the greater trochanter and secure location while resisting superiorly directed forces Smaller distal hooks prevent rotation and migration Updated product support materials can be found at www.depuysynthes.com 4 DePuy Synthes Periprosthetic Product Overview

PLATES AND SCREWS 3.5 mm LCP Plates 4.5 mm LCP Plates Merging locking screw technology with conventional plating technique 3.5 mm and 4.5 mm LCP straight and curved narrow and broad plates Uniform hole spacing 4.5 mm VA-LCP Curved Condylar Plates Four columns of threads in the variable angle locking hole provide four points of threaded locking between the plate and VA locking screw, forming fixed-angle construct at the desired screw angle Screws can be angled anywhere within 30 cone around central axis of the plate hole Variable angle LCP combi holes provide flexibility of selecting either axial compression or variable angle locking in the same hole Aiming arm to facilitate minimally invasive screw insertion LCP Distal Femur Plate Anatomically contoured Low profile reduces potential risk of soft tissue irritation Tapered, rounded plate tip facilitates minimally invasive surgical technique Periprosthetic Product Overview DePuy Synthes 5

PERIPROSTHETIC IMPLANTS 3.5 mm Locking Attachment Plate Compatible with DePuy Synthes 4.5 mm Locking Compression Plates (LCP) System Angled screw holes on each side of the plate avoid prosthesis stem Alternative to cerclage cables 3.5 mm locking screws create fixed-angled construct Arms can be bent or cut to accommodate specific patient anatomy 3.5 mm VA-LCP Proximal Tibia Plates Available in small or large bend to accommodate varying tibial anatomies VA rafting screws allow placement of the screws to capture posterior medial fragments while providing ability to avoid or abut components in periprosthetic fractures Long hole in the plate neck allows for compression, preliminary fixation and plate adjustment Aiming arm to facilitate minimally invasive screw insertion 6 DePuy Synthes Periprosthetic Product Overview

LCP Proximal Tibia Plates (3.5 mm and 4.5 mm) 3.5 mm plates available with standard or low bend Anatomically contoured to match lateral proximal tibia Angled locking holes in shaft allow screws to converge with screw in plate head to support medial fragments Screw hole pattern in head of plate provides resistance to local depression loads Periprosthetic Screws Blunt tip locking screw provides unicortical fixation when an intramedullary implant is present For use with 4.5 mm LCP plates and VA-LCP plates Variable angle or standard locking screw design Note: For complete indications for use, please refer to product specific labeling. INTRAMEDULLARY NAIL Retrograde/Antegrade Femoral Nail-EX Multiple locking options for static, dynamic, standard, and spiral blade locking Spiral blade provides increased surface area to load distribution and provide stability for osteoporotic bone (retrograde only). Fixed angle locking can be achieved with Angular Stable Locking System (ASLS) screws Note: For complete indications for use, please refer to product specific labeling. 8 DePuy Synthes Periprosthetic Product Overview

REAMER/IRRIGATOR/ASPIRATOR Reamer/Irrigator/Aspirator (RIA) Reduces intramedullary pressure Reduces potential for fat embolization Reduces heat generated Updated product support materials can be found at www.depuysynthes.com Periprosthetic Product Overview DePuy Synthes 9

VARIABLE ANGLE SCREW TECHNOLOGY Variable Angle LCP Hole Four columns of threads in locking hole provide four points of locking between the VA-LCP plate and the variable angle locking screw, forming a fixedangle construct at the desired screw angle Variable Angle LCP Combi Hole Many of the variable angle plates feature a variable angle Combi hole that combines a dynamic compression hole with a variable angle locking screw hole. This provides the flexibility of selecting either axial compression or variable angle locking in the same hole Variable Angle LCP Elongated Combi Hole Elongated Combi hole aids in reduction and plate positioning, providing more versatility for the surgeon 10 DePuy Synthes Periprosthetic Product Overview

Variable Angle Locking Screws Threaded, spherical screw head profile Rounded shape facilitates various angles in the plate Self-retaining StarDrive recess designed to improve torque transmission and provide resistance to stripping Locking Screws Threaded conical screw head profile For use in variable angle locking holes in the predefined nominal angle Cortex Screws Can be used for traditional compression and fixation Updated product support materials can be found at www.depuysynthes.com Periprosthetic Product Overview DePuy Synthes 11
