ITB2 Datacenters Informationbrochure 2015 Page: 4 1. Introduction You want to be able to focus on your business and the future of your company. ITB2 Datacenters guarantees continuity with it s own high-quality Datacenters, saving you one thing to worry about. Our newest datacenter can be found in Apeldoorn, centrally located in the Netherlands and easily accessible. 2. About ITB2 Datacenters ITB2 Datacenters is part of ITB-Kwadraat BV, a private Dutch company founded in 1997. Embedded in a tightly controlled organisation, ITB2 Datacenters adheres to the core values of continuity, quality, innovation, sustainability, safety and security. Datacenters and ICT infrastructures have a reputation for being large-scale energy users. As an organisation that accepts its social responsibility, ITB2 Datacenters strives to reduce the resulting energy footprint (and thus the CO 2 emissions). The use of sustainable datacenter architectures and energyefficient technologies are key priorities in the development of our data centres. While building our newest datacenter at Ecofactorij in Apeldoorn, for example, we have set ourselves the goal of being able to facilitate the most demanding organisations and thus transcend the top of the Dutch colocation providers and acquire a position among the international elite on environmental aspects and energy efficiency. In the near future we hope to develop additional Datacenters based on the same concept as used in Apeldoorn. Target markets include corporate organisations, financials, Internet service providers, governments and large system integrators.
ITB2 Datacenters Informationbrochure 2015 Pagina: 5 3. Datacenter Apeldoorn The ITB2 Datacenter at Ecofactorij in Apeldoorn opened its doors in Q2 2013. A recent external audit according to the TIA-942 standard gave the datacenter a score of 74% TIER 4 level and 26% TIER 3 Level. 3.1. Choice of location Ecofactorij in Apeldoorn was chosen due to its central position in the Netherlands and excellent accessibility via the A1 and A50 motorways. The area itself lies 8.8m above NAP (Amsterdam Ordnance Date), while the building is raised 0.8m above street level. Risk analysis shows that the datacenter is not exposed to any particular risks as regards its position in relation to high-risk industries, motorways, waterways, airports and suchlike. 3.2. Building A green field design with the use of a Room in Room concept was used for the datacenter. Location and structure of the building exclude the use of approach routes with sufficient length to damage the datacenter by means of a ram raid.
ITB2 Datacenters Informationbrochure 2015 Page: : 6 The datacenter is divided into 3 data floors, consisting of sandwich s panels that not only offer 60-minute fire resistance, but also ensure optimal protection against moisture and undesired external (heat) radiation. In terms of building layout, a strict separation of functions is respected. All technical systems, for example, are housed in own shielded areas, well separated from the data floors. The 3 data floors, each measuringg 500 m 2, are fitted with a stringer based computer floor to provide a higherr static load (1500 kg/m 2 ) and improved dynamic stability. The total capacity of the data floors is 3 x 240 racks (720 racks total) assuming usage of extra deep racks of 600 x 12001 mm. There has been property reserved for an additional extension of 3 data floors (phase 2). Datacom access is enabled by 4 different cable routes andd 2 separated fibre rooms. Special features of this datacenter include the single-storey concept (no ramps) and the availability of an internal loading bay. Ample parking spaces, project spaces and storage facilities are available within the (fully secure) site..
ITB2 Datacenters Informationbrochure 2015 Pagina: 7 3.3. Power The double feed from the high-voltage station is provided by our own power company on Ecofactorij. A very short route connects us to a ring network of 2 x 7 MVA (total 14 MVA). Two private medium-voltage distributors subsequently lead to physical, fire-safety separated A and B power paths and UPS s. The entire power distribution has been designed fault-tolerant to ensure uninterrupted power supply to the data floor in case of failure of a component or a feed. Each power path has a connection for it s own emergency power generators (A and B). Power Datafloor 1 Max 700 kva IT-load (2n) Datafloor 2 Max 1.300 kva IT-load (2n) Datafloor 3 Max 1.300 kva IT-load (2n)
ITB2 Datacenters Informationbrochure 2015 Page: 8 3.4. Cooling Compliance with the ASHRAE TC 9.9:A1 standard serves as point of departure for climate control of the data rooms. For this, the ITB2 Datacenter Apeldoorn uses redundant indirect adiabatic cooling: a cooling principle that does not require compressors and accompanying environmentally harmful coolants. It is a closed recirculating interior climate with very low air speeds. Each data room can be equipped with 8 Cold Corridors of 2 x 15 racks for an efficient separation of hot and cold airflows. The adiabatic air-handling/cooling units are housed on the first floor and not directly approachable from outside. A very efficient energy use of PUE_cooling 1.03 combined with an extremely low water use of 0.05 L per kw results in a PUE_yearly of 1.08, putting us in the top 3% of the world.
ITB2 Datacenters Informationbrochure 2015 Pagina: 9 3.5. Security Compatible with the Room in Room concept is the use of security shells with rising security levels. The site is permanently closed off with steel fencing, supplemented with a Power Fence for detection and deterrent purposes. Additionally, the site is fitted out with (night vision) HD cameras with recording functionality. Full integration of access control with the burglary signalling system (ISS) enables permanent (7x24) monitoring of the building. The burglary signalling system is divided into a large number of zones that are automatically switched on and off depending on the authorisation of the persons present in the building. Access to the building is only possible via 1 of the 2 Boon Circlelocks and following verification of multiple biometric characteristics and authorisations. An extensive camera system ensures extra control and registration within the building itself.
ITB2 Datacenters Informationbrochure 2015 Page: 10 3.6. Fire detection and repression All critical areas have a structural fire resistance of 60 to 120 minutes and are fitted with a gaseous extinguishing system. The entire building is provided with multilevel fire detection with extra detection by means of VESDA (very early smoke detection) in all critical areas. The outside air is also monitored for external threats. 3.7. Monitoring and management. The building, datacenter and building systems are managed from the on-site control room with failover integration to the control room at our location in Deventer. All critical systems are redundantly monitored with the use of various technological solutions and protocols. For environmental monitoring, we use an autonomous system that can register and record temperature and humidity down to cabinet level. 3.8. Certification and Awards The organisation of ITB2 Datacenters is periodically audited against the ISO 27001, ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 standards. ISO 27001: the international standard for information security management aimed at the continuous management and control of information security risks. ISO 9001: the international standard for quality management and the continuous monitoring and improvement of the quality aspects of operating processes. ISO 14001: the international environmental management standard that regulates air, water, chemical handling, and recycling
