It provides information on the correct use of the certification mark, the Download Center for Certification Marks and many other useful facts and details. Its three letters have become synonymous with safety and certainty, reliability and impartiality. TÜV organisations ensure these principles are applied not only in Germany, but also around the world. Like other TÜV organisations and the TÜV brand association (TÜV Markenverbund e.v.), TÜV SÜD therefore makes every effort to maintain and strengthen its protection of the TÜV brand. For TÜV SÜD clients throughout the world, the brand name and the blue octagon have come to represent enhanced certainty and economic value added. However, a mere statement by the auditor that the company has passed the audit is not enough. The company must also have a valid TMS certificate. 2

Good rules for good certification marks. Binding certification mark guidelines. Rules on how to use the TMS certification mark in advertising Correct use of the TÜV SÜD certifi cation mark at all times is important and in your own interests. In this context, the provisions governing the use of the certification mark set forth in the Testing and Certification Regulations of the TÜV SÜD Group must be fully complied with. The following applies in particular: The TÜV SÜD certifi cation mark may only be used by companies that hold a corresponding valid certificate. In cases involving certificate suspension, expiry, revocation or withdrawal, use of the certification mark in advertising must be discontinued immediately. The TÜV SÜD certifi cation mark may only be used for the applicable, currently valid certificate scope. If changes are made to the scope, use of the mark in advertising has to be aligned accordingly. Important in this context is that the TMS certification mark may only be used in connection with the relevant company and fi eld of certification. Use in connection with a specific product or service is not permitted. Nor may the certification mark be used on personalised means of communication such as business cards. In cases involving certification in the non-regulated sector, e.g. certifi cation in accordance with all TMS standards, advertising must point out the voluntary nature of the certification. The complete Testing and Certification Regulations as amended are available at: www.tuev-sued.de/management_systems/our_company As the certifi cate holder, you are responsible for the correct use of your TÜV SÜD certifi cation mark and certifi cate. Transfer of the rights of use or the certifi cate to third parties is not permitted. The certification mark of TÜV SÜD Management Service GmbH refers to processes and/or systems established in the certified company. Given this, the certification mark may only be used in connection with a company or its management systems and consequently certain types of use are not permitted: No product-related or otherwise misleading use TÜV SÜD certification marks for management systems may not be used in a misleading manner, nor may this type of use be tolerated. Care must be taken to ensure that the certification mark is not used in a discrediting or product-related manner or gives the impression of product certification. Please note: For the purpose of these guidelines, products also include services. Given this, items such as laboratory and inspection reports and calibration certificates count as products. Use of the TÜV SÜD certification mark in advertising is only permitted if there is clear and unmistakable reference to the subject matter of certification. Misinterpretation of the TMS certification mark as a product or service quality label must be avoided by all means. Nor may the certification mark give the impression that the certified company or its personnel are part of the TÜV SÜD Group. Additional legal note Please also be aware that in the event of misuse of a certification mark in advertising, you also run the risk of your competitors issuing a warning notice under competition law, which may incur considerable costs. The responsibility of the users of certification marks may even involve responsibility under criminal law in cases involving misuse. Given this, it is in your own interests to make sure that you use the certification marks you are authorised to use in the correct and permitted manner only. 4

The certification mark of TÜV SÜD Management Service GmbH All certifi cation marks of the TÜV SÜD Group feature the TÜV SÜD Octagon. The certification mark is in colour and with a 3D effect. A special 3D version in greyscale is also possible. Differences between the logo and the certification mark At fi rst glance, the certification mark and the logo of TÜV SÜD Management Service GmbH look similar or even identical. In light of the above, it is particularly important to note the clear differences between the certification mark and the logo. Only the TMS certifi cation mark is available for download and may be used by our successfully certified clients in their advertising. The TÜV SÜD logo may be used by TÜV SÜD companies only and must not be used in our clients advertising and marketing collateral. The TMS certification mark in colour and 3D The logo serves as a clear identification of TMS and may only be used by TÜV SÜD Management Service GmbH. The TMS certifi cation mark, by contrast, does not identify a company. TÜV SÜD Management Service GmbH issues its certification mark exclusively to appropriately certified companies. Certifi cation marks contain a brief summary of the conformity statement, which is set forth in full length in the certificates and certification reports. Exception: 3D and greyscale The certification mark cannot be combined with the logo of the TÜV SÜD Group or the logo of TMS, nor may certified companies use the TÜV SÜD logo. Graphic design rules We supply our clients with the TÜV SÜD certifi cation mark in various file formats for use in both print and electronic media. These files may not be altered or otherwise imitated please use only the original files to ensure that proportions, colours and contents are correct at all times. The conformity statement in the TÜV SÜD certification mark must not be changed in content or design. A minimum clear space equivalent to the width of the octagon frame = X must be left around the TÜV SÜD certification mark. The certification mark may not be combined with the slogan of the company using the mark. The certification mark may not be compressed, stretched or otherwise altered in shape. The TÜV SÜD certifi cation mark must stand alone and may not be associated with any other elements (logo, statement or graphics). Nor may it be combined with the corporate area (the grey background area used for the company logo). The colours of the certification mark may not be altered. 6
