1 Faculty of Education University of Warsaw Courses in foreign languages semester 201/2015 USOS Code Course s title/ Lecturer Brief description ECTS/ language KJO- 33/DTL KJO- 19/IinE Different types of learning difficulties and possible classroom strategies Mgr Dorota Pietrzyk Inequalities in education - English B2+ Mgr Paulina Marchlik KJO-6 Art and Education - English B2+ Dr Mariusz Samoraj The main aim of the course is to introduce students with various issues related to diagnosing, supporting and educating children with different kinds of learning difficulties (sensory disabilities, dyslexia, dyscalculia, dyspraxia, autism, ADHD, ADD, language impairment). The course focuses on some mechanisms that are responsible for the formation and maintaining of questionable and erroneous beliefs as well as the ways of overcoming them. The aim of the seminar is to prepare students to the international cooperation in institutions like The International Association of Education Through Art and to continue their studies within European educational programmes. In terms of teaching objectives, the primary aim is to integrate subject study with language education. Within the study of the subject students become acquainted with problems of aesthetic education and other educational areas connected to art. They also acquire specialist vocabulary relevant to the fields of art and education. They might be able to meet scientists from other European countries (mainly members of European Union) who specialize in theses fields. The main topics of the seminar are following: 1. Time passing versus time lasting current problems of

2 education through art 2. Methodology and education of teachers 3. Visual culture and values of education through art. Expression in art and the experiences of the young generation Language education assumes raising general language competence of students (assuming that they start at B2 level), with a particular emphasis put on skills necessary in using academic language. All materials used to develop receptive skills (reading and listening with comprehension) and productive skills (taking part in a discussion, giving a presentation, making notes and writing summaries and papers) KJO- 9/CAE Child Art and Education - English B2+ Dr Mariusz Samoraj will focus on subjects connected with art and education. The course is kind of educational work with publications on Child Art developement -to translate them and discuse. These are the clasical tekst on :Child Art,pedagogy of creative activity,pedagogical care of Child Art in the primary education period in English and also articles fromthe International Journal of Art & Design Education. Discusion on methodology of art education and creaetive development of Child Art gives possibility to improve communication in English and establish coopration with INSEA -International Association for Education through Art and to use publication of INSEA.The course prepare to attand international conferences and students exchange - Erazmus programe. The course focuses on children's needs for care and protection by society and on programmes and services provided by the social welfare in different European countries. The aim of teh course is to know the selected texts in English language (portions of essays, publications and articles) of significant thinkers of various eras, including the humanities and democracy,

The main objective of the course is for the students to develop and improve linguistic and communicative competence. The aim of the course is to develop the students practical language skills, i.e. productive and receptive skills, and to enrich the students vocabulary and to develop the use of a variety of grammatical structures. The aim of the course is to acquaint the students with chosen English children's literature works. Choice, conveyance and integration of chosen literary works with other elements of teaching English to children. Strategies, forms and techniques of conveyance on the basis of chosen literary works. Role and meaning of narrative texts in the process of teaching English to children aged to 10. Fairy tales and legends as a reflection of target language and culture.
