2 Transforming Lives and Communities Faith- and community-based organizations (FBCOs) are the balm of our communities. Today, 21st century FBCOs and their leaders must develop a more comprehensive approach to address the increasingly complex needs of the communities they serve. Our modern culture faces family breakdown, homelessness, child abductions, children food insecurity, drug addiction, natural disasters, terrorism, and more. Many FBCOs have the heart but not the how-to to mobilize their internal and external resources to effectively handle the crises in their communities. In addition, according to the Daring to Lead 2011 National Study of Executive Nonprofit Leadership, the current recession has amplified negative organizational impact and chronic financial instability for 84% of nonprofits nationally due to unsustainable financial models. It is for this purpose that Faith & Philanthropy Institute was created. The mission of Faith & Philanthropy Institute is to equip faith- and community-based organizations serving high need, low income communities to increase mission impact and financial sustainability.

3 FPI s History On February 16, 2001, Sherrye Willis was given the vision to begin a training institute that would: Develop leaders to start, manage, and grow social service delivery in low income communities. Guide leaders and organizations in creating partnerships and relationships to solve large scale social problems. Moving Beyond the Walls, on September 26-28, 2001, was FPI s first program initiative. Despite the tragic September 11 events, FPI s historic, three-day intensive training was a SUCCESS impacting more than 125 church and community leaders from Texas and Louisiana! In 2002, FPI became a tax-exempt 501(c)(3) organization. Since then, FPI has reached over 5,000 individuals and organizations internationally with intensive training and consulting/coaching in the areas of leadership, business model, internal systems, marketing, and fundraising.

4 Equipping Leaders The heart of the original vision and FPI s resulting mission is equipping leaders for measurable, impact helping them to grow great communities. With a solution-based focus, FPI carries out this mandate with a number of training programs, specialized consulting, and resource information. Executive Counsel Roundtable In today s economy, churches, ministries, and organizations are in desperate need of sound financial and legal counsel, but cannot afford the cost of hiring a high quality attorney. FPI provides an exclusive full-day program to up to six churches, ministries, or nonprofits. The leaders are invited to submit your most troublesome issues. Topics are limited so that leaders receive in-depth information, not just the highlights that you might receive during a seminar or workshop. Ignite Greater Works is a gathering designed to celebrate, share and inform the community of the most effective best-practice program models, as well as to ignite a greater passion for social justice and community outreach among churches, nonprofits, funders and individuals. reater works A Best Practices Community Transformation Gathering reater works IGNITE Greater Works Collaborative is an intensive five (5) session program that equips ministries and nonprofits with the necessary tools to develop and grow strategic alliances in order to transform communities. More extensive than a single workshop in a capacity-building training, this comprehensive instruction will consist of self-assessments, group practice sessions, exploratory discussions and feedback from training facilitators and participants. United for Strength Aligned for Impact The Master Nonprofit Consultant Certificate Program seeks to train consultants to use their expertise and experiences in helping nonprofit organizations effectively achieve their missions. With a variety of developmental experiences and network-building prospects, this unique instructional program is designed to: Present a broader, holistic view of nonprofit organizations including their history and typical organizational needs Assist in the development of a nonprofit consulting business Overview the lifecycle of the consulting process including productive organizational intervention Teach strategies to more effectively serve nonprofit clients Promote missions, values and other key disciplines that affect professional practice standards Mission Add+Ventures (MAV) is a NEW 9-month intensive program that gives faith- and community-based organizations the tools to develop fee-based programs and/or for-profit ventures consistent with their organizations mission. This two-day program equips local church pastors, leaders, and financial administrators to become role models in financial accountability and faithful stewardship. Other critical topics covered include human resource management, risk management and various legal issues facing nonprofits. Ultimate Financial and Legal Conference For Churches, Ministries and Faith-Based Organizations Women Leading Greater Good Forum convenes extraordinary women leaders in nonprofit, philanthropy, government, and business sectors working to advance solutions to today s tough social issues. The program goals are to: Bring women together to inspire and create high-quality, social capital formations that impact individual, organizational and community-level change. Assist women in developing and exchanging human capital that impacts their lives professionally and personally. Celebrate women in leadership roles of public service and allow them to share their leadership knowledge with other leaders.

FPI has really made a difference with those serving the community including my own church. We started a ministry for homeless youth and FPI helped us process the legal documents, as well as develop our first strategic plan. Faith & Philanthropy Institute has worked closely with TUA to provide an additional pair of hands to our staff in program design, implementation, evaluation and technical support to churches, ministries, and faith-based organizations throughout the United States.
