9 About the Editors Liliana Bazzanella is professor in design technical culture and head of the Department of Architectural and Industrial Design at the Polytechnic of Turin. She has acted as scientific coordinator of research programmes nationwide and as partner in European projects. She has been a member of the High Survey Committee for building in Politecnico di Torino financed by FIO and project manager for the expansion of Politecnico di Torino campus. Luca Caneparo is assistant professor in the Department of Architecture and Design at the Polytechnic of Turin. From 2003, he has directed the High-Quality Multidisciplinary Laboratory Territorial Integrated Project at the Polytechnic of Turin and has been in charge of 15 European and national projects. He has published more than 20 papers in peer-reviewed journals and international conferences. Franco Corsico is professor of urban planning, Turin Polytechnic, since He was the former deputy mayor of Turin ( ) and was responsible for transportation and urban planning issues, which led to the approval of the Urban Development Plan, the Urban Traffic and Transportation Plan, and the Metropolitan Transportation Plan. He is the director of the Technical Committee, Higher Institute on Regional Systems of Innovation (SiTI). Giuseppe Roccasalva is architect and research assistant in the School of Architecture at the Polytechnic of Turin from 2003 and professor in sustainable design and planning. He has international learning and professional experiences in urban design and spatial planning (C.T.H and K.T.H of Sweden), collaborating with most of the authors who recorded their work experiences in this book. He has received awards from European educational bodies and has published articles on design decision support systems and scenario making processes. He is an expert in urban morphological analyses ranging from GIS-based analysis to sustainable community-based design. He works as consultant for town planning offices and private and public authorities. He is president of local landscape and environmental committees in the area of Turin. ix
