3 Employee Competency/Performance Assessment Department Position Summary: Performs non-licensed patient care and clerical duties.provides direct patient care under the direction of an RN, including activities of daily living, perform EKG, specimen collection including phlebotomy on all age groups. Transports patients as requested. Assist in stocking the departments and maintain par levels. Rotate stock and keep up with dates of expired supplies. May be floated to work in other areas of Children s.may be used as a sitter. Must be able to communicate effectively and adapt to the constantly changing workload related to increased volume and acuity. Tends to the needs of the unit assigned with minimal instructions. Serves as a unit clerk by answering the telephone, screening and verifying all visitors who enter in the unit, assembling charts for new patients, entering physician orders, entering consults and verifying consults, entering information into the hospital information system, activating the beeper system. Responsible for maintaining work area Clinical competency is evaluated annually using a variety of mechanisms. It focuses on the population-specific needs of the customers served by the staff member.
