1 Performance Specialization Level 1 PICP Performance Specialization Level 1 focuses on Upper Body Structural Balance and Upper Body Exercise Progressions. Students will need to successfully complete the online Theory, online Technical and in-person Practical sections to become a PICP Performance Specialist Level 1 Certified Coach. Upon registration of the PICP Level 1 course, you will receive the following material: PICP Level 1 Theory Manual with Practice Exam Online access to the PICP Level 1 Theory Review and Technical Sections Online Theory and Technical Exams PICP Level 1 Theory Review and Technical Sections on DVD PICP Level 1 Theory In the Level 1 Theory section, coaches & trainers will learn to differentiate strength qualities and the scientific basis to the following training loading parameters: Manipulation of Reps, Manipulation of Sets, Rest Intervals and the Science of Tempo. This section includes an online multiple-choice exam that must be past prior to attending the in-person course with a score of 92% or better. PICP Level 1 Technical The PICP Level 1 Technical section will address different types of training programs by its strength qualities and loading parameters. This section includes an online exam that must be passed prior to attending the in-person course with a score of 92% or better. PICP Level 1 Practical PICP Level 1 section requires coaches & trainers to attend a 2-day course based on the Upper Body Structural Balance Assessment and Upper Body exercise progressions. The Upper Extremity Structural Balance Assessment is Pass/Fail based on a scoring rubric. Following successful completion of the PICP Level 1 Course, coaches will have access to supplemental videos featuring the PICP Level 1 exercises and progressions in the Poliquin Coaches Community.

The Lower Extremity Structural Balance Assessment is Pass/Fail based on a scoring rubric. Following successful completion of Level 2, coaches will have access to supplemental videos featuring the Level 2 exercises and progressions in the Poliquin Coaches Community.
3 Performance Specialization Level 3 PICP Performance Specialization Level 3 is a high-level course that will prepare students to train high performance athletes or get the results with their clients. The course is divided into six (6) tasks that are covered in a 5-day practical course. To register for this course you must be a PICP Level 2 Coach. PICP Level 3 Tasks Task 1: Injury Prevention & Rehabilitation Task 2: Mobility & Stretching Task 3: Performance Supplementation Task 4: Training Energy Systems Task 5: Modified Strongman Task 6: Using Training Systems in Program Design At the conclusion of the PICP Level 3 Course, coaches and trainer will Understand the Principles of Energy System Training Understand factors influencing Energy System programming Understand the factors that help prevent and rehabilitate upper and lower body injuries Understand exercises and their variations for Applied Functional Strength Understand how to design and apply and effective Short-Term Periodization program PICP Practical Requirements To successfully complete the PICP Level 3 Certification, coaches are required to meet specific practical criteria. Coaches will need to produce an athlete that followed your program based on the philosophies of PICP, has participated in and finished in a National Championship that represents 90% of the first three (3) competitors. For example, if the average throw in competition is 20 meters, your athlete will need to throw 18 meters. Coaches are required to provide Poliquin Group with an official letter from the sport s governing body or team that confirms you coached that athlete.
4 Performance Specialization Level 4 PICP Performance Specialization Level 4 represents one of the final steps in the PICP Certification for students. This course is designed for those interested in pursuing a successful career as a strength coach or is currently working with high performance athletes. During the 5-day course, coaches will be expected to give a minute presentation about their coaching process and business. To register for this course you must be a PICP Level 2 Coach and have taken the PICP Level 3 Course. PICP Level 4 Tasks Task 1: Training Recovery Methods Task 2: PIMST Task 3: Integrating Plyometrics Task 4: Olympic Lifting Pull Variations for Speed Development Task 5: Using Implements in Program Design Task 6: Advanced Strength Training Techniques Task 7: Strength Training & Business (Coaches Presentation) PICP Practical Requirements To successfully complete the PICP Level 4 Certification, coaches are required to meet specific practical criteria. Coaches will need to produce an athlete that followed your program based on the philosophies of PICP in these following arenas: Participate officially as a coach or as an athlete at the Olympic Games Participate officially as a coach or as an athlete at the World Championships Participate officially as a coach or as an athlete in the World Cup circuit Coach an athlete to the Olympic Games Coach an athlete on the World Cup circuit Coaches are required to provide Poliquin Group with an official letter from the sport s governing body or team that confirms you coached that athlete.
5 Performance Specialization Level 5 The highest achievement in the Poliquin International Certification Program is to reach PICP Performance Specialization Level 5. This level falls under the jurisdiction of Poliquin Group in collaboration with the National Sport Governing Organization (NSGO). The identification of a PICP Level 5 Coach needs the approval of both organizations. This level is competency-based according to the coach s experience and his form of education. The coaches who desire this level of certification have to submit their curriculum to Poliquin Group. All curriculums are based on the achievement of the candidate. Only active coaches can qualify for this level. You need to meet three (3) of the six (6) following criteria to obtain this qualification: Train a medalist at the Olympic Games Train a medalist at the Senior World Championships Participate officially as a coach or an athlete at the Olympic Games or World Championships Train a Record Holder in a recognized discipline Train an athlete who wins a distinguished award in the professional league: i.e. Norris (NHL), Cy Young (MLB) Work as a National Coach for 5 years *Note: World Championships are for recognized disciplines where coaching is a factor: i.e. track and field, alpine skiing, volleyball, etc. Examples of sports not recognized are: ice dancing and speed skiing.
