1 Spring 2014 Non-Credit Workshops How to Get a Job! Wednesdays, January 15, 2014 to February 5, :00 a.m. 12:00 pm Cost: $30 LWKS3440 CRN Lakes Region Community College is offering a workshop designed to help individuals who are struggling to find employment. In addition to a step by step process of finding employment, the workshop will address: Building Self-Confidence Career Exploration and Job Search Planning How to Write and Market your Resume The Process of Customizing Cover Letters Mock Interviewing and Marketing your Skills Understanding the Needs of Employers to Getting that Job! In order to cover all the topics comprehensively, the workshop will be held in four sessions on the following Wednesdays from 10:00 a.m. to Noon: January 15, 2014, January 22, 2014, January 29, 2014, and February 5, 2014 Instructor: Lori J. Mahar, MBA (Center Barnstead NH) is an Educator and Coach; she is also Public Relations Chairperson for NHAVA (New Hampshire Association for Volunteer Administrators). Since 2000, Lori has been recognized several times in New Hampshire s Business Review for her achievements as a proven leader in business and community development, leadership and training and also recognized as one of New Hampshire Magazine s Women of Achievement. Basic Video Capture & Editing Saturday, February 8 and Saturday, February 15 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. Cost: $150 LWKS1130 CRN This two-day eight-hour workshop is designed to help beginners with capturing and editing video. Whether your camera is a DSLR, cell phone or anything in-between, we will help demystify your menu settings and assign desired capture formats. You ll learn how to load your video onto a computer and open into a video editing program. Here we use Apple s imovie to create a basic edits, add Titles and Credits and output a finished video ready for YouTube. Instructor: Michael Place, Graphic Arts and Media Arts Professor at LRCC

2 Wish Upon a Star Monday, February 10 6:00-8:00 p.m. Cost: $35 LWKS5546 CRN In this Creative Pathway class, you will learn to manifest your heart s desire and create your own Wish Box. Creative Pathway classes are designed to learn holistic living techniques in a fun, informal way. Lessons are informally taught while working on an individual creative project related to the topic. Materials are included in the price of the class. Instructor: Laurie Mayhew, Reiki Master Teacher Adobe Photoshop Wednesdays, February 19 to March 12 5:30-8:30 p.m. Cost: $200 LWKS1070 CRN Adobe Photoshop is known throughout the world as the number one photo editing software. This twelve-hour workshop takes you on a project-based tour of the basic tools, techniques and concepts that every digital artist should know. This workshop will be held in four sessions: February 19, February 26, March 5, and March 12, Class 1: 4 x 6 Print; Class 2: Golden Curve Collage; Class 3: Caricature Project; Class 4: Caricature Project continued. Customers are the lifeblood of any company and each employee has the power to impact the reputation of their company. In doing so, they can directly affect the long-term profitability of the company for which they work. When companies are not profitable, neither are the company s abilities to provide long-term employment or employee pay and benefits. The following will be among the topics covered: Definition of Customer Service Developing Customer Service Skills Working with Body Language and Voice Learning Listening Skills

This twelve-hour workshop is project based, bringing you through basic steps of page layout combined with time-saving techniques for a more efficient and productive workflow. Topics will include review features; adding comments; accepting and rejecting changes; converting text to tables; creating and editing tables; creating columns; and inserting, resizing, and rotating graphics and much more. Microsoft Excel Intermediate Monday, April 14 and Wednesday, April 16 LWKS2310 CRN This workshop is designed for users who want to expand their knowledge in Microsoft Excel. Topics will include working with established or new spreadsheets; manipulation of multiple spreadsheets, formatting cells, using advanced formulas and creating charts. Microsoft Word Advanced Monday, April 21 and Wednesday, April 23 LWKS1800 CRN This workshop provides you with the skills and knowledge required to create complex documents. Topics covered will include mail merges; table of contents; bookmarks; watermarks; inserting an equation; protecting documents and much more.

Topics included in this workshop will be creating, editing and formatting pivot tables; linking data from Excel to Word document; freezing window panes; translation; protecting and adding comments to workbooks.
