3 INNOVATIVE COHORT PROGRAM EXECUTIVE FORMAT SCHOLAR-PRACTITIONER COHORT MODEL The Higher Education Leadership program is built on a practitioner-scholar model which emphasizes the integration of theory and research with policy and practice. Designed as a rigorous executive, cohort program, taking approximately three years to complete which includes the doctoral dissertation. DESIGNED FOR FULL-TIME EMPLOYEES ONE WEEKEND PER MONTH CHALLENGING & SUPPORTIVE ENROLLMENT MANAGEMENT The Higher Education Leadership program is based on the Enrollment Management (EM) philosophy. The EM funnel and retention funnel represent the foundation of the educational and philosophical underpinnings of all graduate programs in the Higher Education Program. THEORY-TO-PRACTICE
4 Our Executive Ed.D. program includes 60 credits beyond the master s degree. The curriculum is highly structured and students take all courses together as a cohort. This structure improves program retention and provides a supportive environment for students. 5 Practically-relevant Research, Methods, and Dissertation Writing Seminars In preparation for your dissertation research project, you are trained in understanding the design and application of the most commonly used research methods in the higher education field. Skill-building 3 credit course in Design of Educational Research 9 credits in Statistical Methods and Data Analytic Procedures 12 credits (one year) of Dissertation Proposal and Dissertation Writing Seminars Theory-driven Problem-based This structured research methods and dissertation writing sequences are designed to provide continued support in the development of relevant skills needed to successfully conduct dissertation research. Forging connections between research, theory, policy, and practice, the higher education research sequence teaches the fundamentals of research design and the application of statistical methods or qualitative procedures.
