1 The Illinois Chapter of the International Interior Design Association is proud to announce the third annual professional design awards competition The RED Awards, Recognizing Exemplary Design IIDA Illinois celebrated the RED Awards on April 2, 2015 at the esteemed Museum of Contemporary Art. In the spirit of the Academy Awards, the event was a red carpet gala. The evening began with cocktails and mingling amongst the art galleries, followed by the ceremony, recognizing the best design projects from the Illinois interior design community. Our distinguished judges reviewed nearly 60 entries from over two dozen Illinois-based design firms and designers. The Michelle Roberts Student Award returned, recognizing the best student design projects from four design schools throughout Illinois. Also, the inaugural Emerging Professional award was given, highlighting projects submitted by companies who s Lead Interior Designer or Architect had less than five years of experience at the time of the project completion. The IIDA Illinois Chapter RED Awards Committee would like to share a special thank you to our judges, chapter partners, IIDA Illinois board members, and our Mistress of Ceremonies, Cheryl Durst. He holds a M. Arch degree from Tulane University, is a licensed architect and LEED Accredited professional, and is an IIDA member. As Design Director at IA Interior Architects, Scott guides design projects from concept to completion, creating effective, sustainable, and elegant environments for corporate and civic clients such as Citibank, Optimus, Google, and ADMIS. As the leader of the design process for many projects, Scott calls upon his past experience as a university-level design studio instructor to encourage a collaborative exchange of ideas among his team members. He believes this approach leads to more intelligent and higher quality design solutions. Dedicated to elevating design within the architecture and interiors community, Scott regularly serves on design school reviews and design competition juries. Bud Rodecker Bud Rodecker is a principal designer at 3st and an adjunct professor at DePaul University. His work explores the space between logical constraints and formal play, and balances form with meaning. He is interested in systems and processes with the potential to create design. At 3st, he collaborates with John Pobojewski and Cooper Hewitt National Design Awardwinner Rick Valicenti. Rodecker s work has been displayed in the Venice Architectural Biennale, the Chicago Cultural Center, Typeforce, published in various publications including GRAPHIS, CONCEPT MAGAZINE INDONESIA, IDN Magazine, SLANTED, archived in The Chicago Design Archive, and earned a platinum award from GRAPHIS. Outside the studio, Rodecker explores the process of creativity through self-initiated experiments and teaching design at DePaul University. He has participated in numerous design-related lectures, workshops, and panels sharing his unique perspective on design and the creative process. Meg Prendergast Meg, a long time Gettys Principal, brings nearly three decades of hospitality design experience to the firm. She is one of the company s cultural cornerstones, our internal luxury expert, a leader in strategic brand thinking and wellversed in Gettys global work. She consistently guides her teams with a dedication to delivering stunning luxury hospitality design with a neverfailing, gracious approach. Meg s broad project experience includes all aspects of hospitality design from client relationship management, programming and concepting throughout an entire project. As our luxury expert, Meg s portfolio includes destination luxury resorts, luxury spas and social and business traveler upscale hotels. Out of the hundreds of commissions for the most prominen hotel companies and owners have resulted in recognition and awards from the industry and her peers. In addition, her work as been published in Lodging Hospitality, Hospitality Design, Contract Design, Floor Focus Magazine and Chicago Architect among others. Meg holds an Associates Degree in Fine Arts from the Harrington College of Interior Design. She is a member of the Network of Executive Women in Hospitality s (NEWH) Chicago Chapter. Meg is also very active on a variety of local committees including the Parkways Foundation and the Adler Planetarium of Chicago, where she serves on their Executive Committee as Immediate Past President of the Women s Board.
