2 Host city Ottawa is the capital city and the fourth largest city in Canada with a population of about 810,000 (city) and 1.1 million (region). It is a safe and secure city where participants can easily walk from their hotel and the conference venue to downtown restaurants and shopping. Accommodation and Meals Meals As host country, Canada will be providing breakfast/nutrition breaks and lunch on October 15 and 16 at the Government of Canada Conference Centre. Dinner will be provided on the evening of October 15 at the National Arts Centre Le Salon. Further details will be forthcoming. Accommodation Accommodation is available at the following hotels. All are within a 5 minute walk of the Government of Canada Conference Centre. Lodging arrangements and costs will be the responsibility of the country delegate or the institution represented by the observer. Climate: October is in the Autumn season in Canada. The average daily temperature in Ottawa at time is 8.2 degrees Celsius. Daytime temperatures range from degrees C. 4 Ottawa International Airport and Transportation: The Ottawa International Airport is located within the Ottawa city limits and is easily accessible to downtown. Transportation and Taxis Transportation from the airport to hotels will be the responsibility of individual participants. Taxi service is safe and convenient and there is no prepaid taxi system at the airport. All taxis are regulated, with each taxi having a visible meter. The taxi stand is located directly outside of the Arrivals main door of the airport. Travel from the airport to the hotels, is in the price range of $25-30 (Canadian) each direction. In addition, hotel shuttles travel from the airport to all the downtown hotels with at prepaid rate of $24 (Canadian) return fare (airport to hotel to airport).
