4 1. Your wireless high speed office at any hotspot Public Wireless LAN from Swisscom Mobile provides easy, fast access to the Internet, services and, if this service is set up, also to company networks. Mobility is a feature of life today. Our world and the business world in particular is becoming more and more mobile. Nowadays you can work virtually anywhere with a notebook or a pocket PC (e.g. i-paq) without having to be tied to a permanent space in the office: on business trips, on holiday, on the way to work, etc., meaning that easy, fast access to the Internet and to the company network is becoming more and more important. If you do a lot of travelling then you will know that over and over again you could be subjected to the inconvenience of having to wait around: at stations, at airports, in hotels, at trade fairs or congresses, etc. An innovative solution to unproductive waiting times. Public Wireless LAN is therefore the right answer to unproductive waiting times and is aimed at everyone who needs to be connected to the Internet or the company even when they are on the move. With a transfer capacity of up to 2 Mbit/s, Public Wireless LAN complements the already existing options for data communication such as GPRS, UMTS, EDGE and HSDPA, but is significantly faster and also easy to operate. There is no need for the notebook to be connected to the mobile telephone and so this can be used without restriction even during a Public Wireless LAN connection. There is also no need for additional software or an additional client to be installed. Swisscom Mobile is continually setting up Public Wireless LAN hotspots at airports, hotels, trade fairs, stations, schools, etc. thereby making it possible to connect directly to the Internet at these places. This means that you can deal with s, synchronise your appointments calendar or provided the company has set it up establish a direct connection to your company network.
