2 Age-Friendly Communities Communities that encourage and sustain the independence and active participation of its older residents profits from their experience and commitment.

3 Age-Friendly Communities Facts By 2036, one-quarter of Ontario s population will be over % of our older residents experience some form of impairment or limitation of daily active living. Independence is essential to successful and healthy aging.

4 Age-Friendly Communities Challenges: Cities can be difficult environments to grow old. Accessibility physical, cognitive, sensory, chronic health. Homes and public spaces are often built with a different generation in mind.

5 Age-Friendly Communities Opportunities: Older adults committed, long-term residents of their communities Contribute time, experience, financial resources, energy to local projects and organizations. Older residents are a valuable form of social, economic and physical capital.
