7 SYRIA Countries in Conflict and Crisis Reprogrammed HIV grant to include anti-retroviral treatment (ART) Active follow-up of patients on ART and TB treatment Grants being reviewed again to focus on feasible activities SOUTH SUDAN Reprogrammed grants to deliver life-saving services using partners operating in conflict areas CENTRAL AFRICA REPUBLIC Service delivery system adapted to deliver in a complex emergency context (IFRC) LLIN mass-distribution campaign in 2014 Grant management plan that reflects and accounts for the special circumstances surrounding the program and the grant 7

11 Making a Difference The impact of the Global Fund in the region is about more than the results reported Woman with HIV in Mauritania I need you in order to live. People like me need the Global Fund s support and affection. With your help, we can live with HIV. Man with HIV in Djibouti: Being HIV-positive is no longer a death sentence. Syria: 162 people continue to receive anti-retroviral treatment despite the crisis in the country. South Sudan and Central African Republic: Reprogrammed grants delivering life-saving services to internally displaced people. Morocco and Tunisia: Reform of the laws affecting condom distribution. Somalia: Despite the high TB prevalence, case detection and treatment success rates in this fragile state have improved thanks to the Global Fund support. Jordan: Treatment for TB and MDR TB is provided free of charge in Jordan thanks to Global Fund support. 11
