Provide any attachments that substantiate or expand on the questions below. I. Program Definition Outline the unique qualities that define the importance of your program. The Computer Science program is designed to offer students a series of courses to help them reach their personal and professional goals with a two-year degree in Computer Science, appropriate preparation for transfer to a four-year institution, advancement in an established career, or retraining for moving into a new profession. II. Program Purpose Pathway: Transfer Briefly describe how your program fits into the pathways you have chosen. The primary goal of the Computer Science program is to prepare students to transfer to four year institutions and/or graduate school. A secondary goal is to prepare students for a career in the Computer Science field by offering a program leading to an A.S. in Computer Science. A third goal of the Computer Science program is to offer courses which give students skills necessary for advancement in the computer industry or retraining for an entry-level position. The vast majority of our CS students are transfer students. III. Students Served Briefly outline what students are served in your program. The vast majority of students enrolled in Computer Science courses are transfer students. Some already have degrees in CS but want to update skills before grad school, others have degrees in other fields and are seeking a change. Other types of students include: (a) high school students and graduates seeking a two-year degree in subject areas including computer science, (c) returning students seeking skills for advancement in their current career or preparing to change professions, (d) returning students seeking new knowledge in fulfillment of a personal goal. IV. Program History Briefly outline the recent history of your program. Long and sordid. Steady decline for many years, revitalization really helped, need FT instructor to make it all solid!
