1 REGULATONS FOR THE TWO YEAR DEGREE OF MASTER OF EDUCATON (M.Ed.) w.e.f The examination for the degree of Master of Education (M.Ed.) shall be held under Annual system. Student shall be permitted to complete the degree programme in maximum three years from the date of his registration in the course. 2. The course structure of M.Ed. two years programme is divided into four major categories as Perspectives (Core), Specializations (Optional), Practicum and Research. The maximum marks for all the perspectives paper will be 100 marks out of which 80 Category is Specialization (Optional) wherein the student has to choose any one course out of V () Curriculum Development, Pedagogy and Assessment V () nformation and Communication Technology in Education The maximum marks for the specialization paper will be 100 marks out of which 80 Category is Practicum which is compulsory. This category is subdivided into V & V. 2

3 Paper V comprises of two parts as V() School Observation and V() Field Based Activities. V() School observation will be of maximum 25 marks which will be evaluated internally on the basis of the report presented by the student of the observation done by him/her of the B.Ed. pupil teacher at the time of their practice of teaching. V () Field Based Activities will be of maximum 25 marks which will be evaluated internally on the basis of an analytical report (qualitative/quantitative) of any educational issue in the surrounding of the student. School observation will be minimum 10 day full time activity in the educational institution imparting knowledge to the Elementary /Secondary level. This Observation will be supervised by the Faculty of the concerned institution of the observer. Paper V will be on Self Development and Communication Skills which will be evaluated through grades (A= Excellent; B=Very Good; C=Good; D=Satisfactory; E=Unsatisfactory. The Evaluation will be done internally by a board comprising of Head of the department and One internal teacher by rotation every year. Category V consists of the V paper of Dissertation Synopsis which will be of maximum 50 marks, out of which 30 will be external and 20 marks will be given by the internal supervisor. The M.Ed. student will develop a synopsis for the dissertation in the first year which he/she will be pursuing and completing in the next year for the fulfillment of the M.Ed. Course. The synopsis will be presented in the Departmental Open Synopsis presentation (DOSP).The DOSP will comprise of the Head, all Supervisors and an External Expert. However the marks will be given by external expert in consultation with the Head. The DOSP can only be conducted with the minimum physical presence of the 70 percent of the total faculty members, the head and one external expert n the Second year the Category Perspectives (Core) comprises of three Compulsory Perspectives as Historical Perspectives of Education, Measurement, Evaluation and Statistics in Education, Teacher Education in ndian and Global perspectives 3

This category comprises of nternship. The evaluation of the internship will be done internally by the respective supervisors. The internship is subdivided in two parts. Parts A (35 marks) and part B (15 marks). Part A- will be a sort of attachment /immersion of the students with organizations and institutions working in the field of education, that shall be of not less than 3weeks and Part B will comprise of an Educational Tour of not less than a week in one or more educational sites/fields/organizations/institutions engaged in pre-service teacher programme, in service teacher programme, curriculum design, textbook development, educational administration and management etc. Category V is research category, which is sub grouped as V () V () V () V (V) Curriculum Studies Education Studies Dissertation Comprehensive Viva Voce Group V () Curriculum Studies will be evaluated internally by rotation. Group V () Education Studies will be evaluated internally by rotation. Group V () Dissertation will be of maximum marks 100 in which 80 will be external and 20 will be internal to be given by the respective supervisors. Group V (V) Comprehensive Viva Voce which will be of maximum marks 100 that will be conducted by the external examiner, the viva voce will be based on the all the theory papers, Specializations, Practicum(School based activities /nternship), Dissertation and the reports on V () & V() Failure to pass at the examination shall not disqualify the candidate from presenting himself/herself at any subsequent examination. For the paper in which the candidate has failed or failed to take examination, he/she will be allowed to take examination in the next year examination only, provided new application being forwarded and further required fees be paid. Such a candidate shall not be required to proceed a further course of study in the University. This facility can be exercised only once. The marks for dissertation, practical, seminar and other internal assessment of such 4

5 candidates shall be carried over to the subsequent examination. Such student will be required to appear in the paper/s in which he/she has failed. The students whose attendance were 80% (theory) and 90% (Practicum) and above and failed to take examination in that year will be given chance in the next year only once, without going through the process of Entrance Test. However, this should not affect the intake of fresh students in respective courses on the basis of seats available for that particular year. o The students failing the required % of attendance will not be allowed to appear in the annual examination. However the Vice Chancellor in deserving case may condone a fix % of attendance n the case of candidates who fail or fail to appear in theory papers in the examination and appear at a subsequent examination, marks obtained by them in the Dissertation shall be carried to the next examination. Candidates who fail to submit the dissertation or who fail to secure 40% in Dissertation and fail in the examination on that account only, will be required to resubmit the Dissertation at the subsequent examination to appear again as an ex-student. Maximum marks: as mentioned against each paper in the table above for first and second year. Classification of Results: 60% and above Division 48% and above but below 60% Division Below 48 % Fail To pass in theory, a candidate must obtain 40% in each paper and 48% in aggregate. (Both internal and external separately) n every internal Practicum of Perspectives and Specialization papers, five (05) marks out of 20 will be awarded as under for Attendance Above 90% - 5 Marks 85% - 90% - 4 Marks 80 % - 85% - 3 Marks 70% - 80 % - 2 Marks 60% - 70% - 1 Marks Below 60% - 0 Marks Every candidate shall answer his/her questions at the M.Ed. Examination in English or in Hindi only. 5
