4 BRIEF GUIDELINES ON STUDY LEAVE JUNIOR DOCTORS (In Training) 1. All applications for study leave must be made at least 6 weeks before the date of the leave or course date. Applications may be refused if made within 6 weeks. 2. Study leave allowance is 600 per annum / 300 per six months. This includes subsistence and travel. 3. Retrospective claims for study leave or course expenses will generally not be considered. 4. Revision/Crammer Courses. Any Trainee wishing to attend a revision/crammer course towards an examination will only be reimbursed 50% of the cost of the course, up to a maximum of 250. Only ONE course for each type of examination will be funded, irrespective of whether the candidate is successful in the examination. 5. No payments will be made for exam fees. 6. Funding will not be granted for on-line courses. 7. Contributions towards overseas course fees and expenses (which cover travel, accommodation and subsistence) are in the order of: - Paris, near Europe 150 Mid Europe, Italy, etc 300 India, all the Americas and Canada 450 Australia, New Zealand 500 APPROVAL OF EXPENSES 8. Once study leave has been granted, expenses claims with receipts must be submitted to the Postgraduate Centre within 3 months of the course date. Claims received later than this date will be refused. 9. Expenses will not be paid without receipts. STUDY LEAVE ENTITLEMENT All Junior Doctors are granted 600 per annum / 300 per six months 30 days study leave. In some specialities where there is protected teaching, days and monies will be deducted. Private study entitlement is 10 days per annum (from the 30 total), with 5 being taken at a block.
