2 Startseite: The Conference Text Health Promotion in the School Setting. Planning - Realising - Evaluating. The first international Health(a)ware conference in Vienna addresses teachers, who are concerned with planning, realising and evaluating Health Promotion Projects, as well as scientists, experts and other people involved in health promotion. A main part of the children s and young adolescents lives happens at school where the cognitive, motor, social and emotional development of the students is influenced over years. That is why school and the individual school subjects can be important contexts for an effective health promotion. The respective school settings can contribute to the development and strengthening of health promoting (life) competences of students. The change from a pathogenetic to a salutogenetic orientation has lead to the development of heterogeneous models of health promotion in schools (e.g. Feel-good school ; School in Motion,...). These models have an impact on the planning, realisation and evaluation of teaching, concerning individual school subjects as well as subject combining and interdisciplinary teaching projects. The first international Health(a)ware conference Health Promotion in the School Setting wants to achieve an interdisciplinary discourse about Health Promotion, put various models of health promotion in the school setting up for discussion, show teachers how health promotion can be practically realised (e.g. in P.E., languages, biology,...) and present evaluation concepts and evaluation strategies of health promoting teaching and teaching projects. The Main Presentations focus on the conference s topic from an interdisciplinary point of view and look at health promotion in the school setting in a differentiated way. The Workshops put Health Promotion. Planning Realising Evaluating up for discussion in the following four thematic modules: Body and Time concentrates on time aspects of body and health by thematising individual life questions (e.g. development, nutrition,..) in the dimension of time. Body and Measure focuses on dimensions of the body that are connected to health and can be measured (height, weight, sport activity, ) Body and Bodies deals with social, cultural and intercultural questions of health promotion.

3 Bodies and Environment thematises how life contexts (e.g. school) can be formed and the role of the environment in connection with the liability to illnesses and injuries. Health(a)ware Austria is very pleased to invite you to the first international Health(a)ware conference 2008 in Vienna, at the Zentrum für Sportwissenschaft und Universitätssport (ZSU; Centre of Sport Science and University Sport). The cooperation with the Bundesministerium für Unterricht, Kunst und Kultur (bm:ukk; Federal Ministery for Education, the Arts and Culture), the Verband der Lehrer/innen Österreichs für Bewegung und Sport (VdLÖ; Association of P.E. Teachers Austria) and the Health(a)ware project partners as well as HEPE aims to support and fortify the exchange between sport scientific institutions.
