Summer 05 classes ALL MPA courses with the eception of the HA electives are scheduled to meet only online during the summer. Classes officially start on the May 31 st, Please be sure to check the WebCT on that day. Research News 6.30 p.m p.m p.m p.m. Our faculty members not only teach they attend national meetings and present papers! On Thursday, March 23 rd, Dr. Roe Roberts will be a member of a Roundtable discussion for the Policy and Public Administration Section of the Southwestern Political Science Association conference in New Orleans. Her topic will be on the efficient uses of Program Resources. Dr. Kirk Harlow is currently involved in several research projects. He is working with Bernards Township Health Department in New Jersey on a study of middle- and high school-students and their capacity to resist problem behavior such as substance abuse. The initial focus of the project is assessing the presence among the students of protective factors such as parental involvement and teacher support. Dr. Harlow also is working on a project evaluating the effectiveness of a brief employee assistance program intervention on employee assistance program clients. He will be presenting the initial results of this research at two conferences this spring, the Employee Assistance Roundtable and the Employee Assistance Society of North American. Graduate Assistantship Position: The department is still accepting applications for the position of Graduate Assistant for the fall 2005 semester. As mentioned earlier, the department is hoping to continue to receive support for this position,

7 which shall help defray the cost of tuition and provide one with a small sum of money each month as the student works toward his or her master s degree. Those interested are encouraged to apply immediately, given the high volume of qualified applicants! Watch out for more eciting news soon!
