1 Griffith InfoTech 1001ICT Introduction to Programming for Years 11/ ICT Object-Oriented Programming for Year 12 Pathway into Griffith University science degree programs Griffith Sciences is offering Year 11 and 12 students the opportunity to study a Griffith University first year course while undertaking their senior studies at school. The Griffith High School Pathway Programs are an excellent opportunity for students to experience a University course whilst completing their senior studies without a significant increase in workload. Students will study the majority of the course content within the normal delivery of the QCAA Syllabus/ Australian Senior Curriculum specific to their chosen course. All content will be delivered through a series of web based learning tools. Taking part in a Griffith High School Pathway Program along with a senior subject will in no way be detrimental to the class results of the students. Students need to achieve 50% or higher on the Year 11 assessments and maintain standards in school to be eligible to continue with the course in Year 12. Benefits of successfully completing Griffith InfoTech - Awarded with a formal Certificate of Completion by Griffith University - 10 credit points for a first semester, first year course at Griffith University - eligible for a guaranteed offer into specified Griffith University programs - One bonus rank when applying for entry into Griffith undergraduate degree programs Length: External 1 year program taken over Year 11 (Semester 2 only) or Year 12 (Semester 1 or 2). High School Pathway Program Options: - Griffith Chem - Griffith Phys - Griffith Maths - Griffith InfoTech - Griffith Eng + Students must remain OP eligible and maintain specified achievement levels in specified senior subjects.
2 Griffith InfoTech Program High school IPT/ICS students can complete a Griffith University first-year Programming course while studying IPT subjects within school curriculum. In the Griffith InfoTech program in Year 11(Semester 2) or Year 12 (Semester 1 or 2) students will: Be taught the content of Griffith IntoTech 1 program (1001ICT: Introduction to Programming) within the normal delivery of the IPT subjects via lectures, discussions and workshops with additional support from Griffith University online learning materials Complete 5 x 5% Multiple Choice Tests (25%) Complete 5 x 5% Accessed Programming Labs (25%) Complete a final examination (50%) Attend a day excursion to Griffith University to have some exposure to the university environment (optional depending on High Schools requirements) Students who achieve 50% or higher for Griffith InfoTech 1 will be invited by the High School Leader to continue with the Griffith InfoTech 2 program in Year 12 (If the school chooses to do so). In the Griffith InfoTech 2 program in Year 12 students will - Be taught the content of Griffith IntoTech 2 program (1005ICT: Object Oriented Programming) within the normal delivery of the IPT subjects via lectures, discussions and workshops with additional support from Griffith University online learning materials Complete 5 x 5% Multiple Choice Tests (25%) Complete 5 x 5% Accessed Programming Labs (25%) Complete a final examination (50%) Attend a day excursion to Griffith University to have some exposure to the university environment (optional depending on High Schools requirements) What does participating in Griffith InfoTech mean to a student? Students who successfully complete Griffith InfoTech 1 (achieving 50% or above) will be awarded a formal Certificate of Completion by Griffith University. Guaranteed Admission OP or ATAR eligible students successfully completing the course/s will be guaranteed admission into selected science degree programs subject to: - maintaining OP eligibility status throughout Year 11 and Year 12 - achieving a pass in all subjects undertaken in the year prior to entering the Griffith InfoTech Program - achieving a minimums of SA in English - meeting admission prerequisites of the degree program - listing the program as first QTAC preference Credit If students then enrol in a Griffith University degree program, they will be eligible for credit for a first semester, first year, Griffith University Programming course/s. For Griffith InfoTech 1 students, credit will be given for 1001ICT Introduction to Programming. For Griffith InfoTech 2 students, credit will be given for 1001ICT plus 1005ICT Object Oriented Programming, providing that course is a core/elective requirement in their degree. Once enrolled at Griffith, students apply for credit with the Certificate of Completion as documentary evidence to support their credit application. What degrees can I get guaranteed entry into?
