As we enter into the new year we want to be sure that every Participating Teacher is getting value out of the work they are doing with their Support Provider and the systematic engagement in reflection on their teaching practice. We urge each of you to be proactive in understanding the requirements to be recommended for a California Clear Teaching Credential and engaging in the process in a way that it will lead to meaningful growth and reflection for everyone involved. 2 The following pages of the newsletter will give a brief overview of the first semester requirements for participants in the Full Induction program Year 1 and Year 2. Participants applying for the Early Completion Option complete the same 1st Semester requirements as Year 1 Full Induction. If accepted to the program they will have an adjusted schedule for second semester. Some participants may have an Individual Completion Plan. Ask them to share their plan that was developed during the Extended Orientation or FACT Worktime with you so that you will understand their requirements. BTSA Class Structure The heart of the BTSA program is the collaborative relationship between the Support Provider and Participating Teacher. We are thankful to have such a wonderful cadre of Support Providers to guide participants through the process and help them remain on track not only with timelines but with the systematic focus on growth and celebration of success. Engaging together in the formative assessment process, as well as recording findings and insights on the FACT docu- To guide successful progression through the program and timely completion of the requirements to earn a California basis. Full Induction participants will follow the schedule below. Participants in other options will have a revised completion schedule based on their requirements. Each class has a course syllabus that outlines all requirements and due dates for the semester. Class Syllabi are available to download from the LAUSD BTSA website. Full Induction (standard BTSA Program) Year 1, Semester Context for Teaching/Assessment of Teaching Practice 1 Year 1, Semester Inquiry 1: Pedagogy Year 2, Semester Context for Teaching/Assessment of Teaching Practice 2 Year 2, Semester Inquiry 2: Universal Access (Equity, Teaching English Learners, Teaching Special Populations

3 BTSA 1st Semester QuickView Enrollment Individual Completion Plan: Register and follow the guidelines for the first semester sessions indicated on their plan. Charter School teachers: follow the EZAccess directions from the BTSA website REGISTRATION page to receive your user name and password and activate your access to Learning Zone Registration must be reactivated each year.

4 Individual Completion Plan: Follow the timelines on your plan if revised from standard timelines. Support Providers will initial the Signature page for each document validating that it was completed collaboratively.

5 Portfolio Submission All participating teachers will submit their portfolios online for review. Please back up current copies of all files on your flash drive and computer. For the first semester of all participants will submit their work in DropBox. (there are server capacity issues which have caused us to not use MOODLE for LAUSD participants). A co- pleted and the document resubmitted within one week. Consulting the criteria prior to submission is a great way to minimize requests for revision. Tips for Success from past Participants: Tips for success from past participants: At one of your first meetings with your Support Provider schedule time to complete everything. Then STICK TO THE PLAN! schedule. Back up, back up, back up! Reading the criteria charts and the Teaching and Learning Framework before starting can save a lot of time later. Please remember that FACT work time sessions are offered in 4 locations each month. There are experienced support providers/portfolio reviewers available to answer questions and provide assistance.
