3 INTRODUCTION Teacher Education program is 77 years old Center of Development in Teacher Education Recognized by the Philippine Congress and the Philippine Business for Education as one of the top 5 performing schools based on the PRC LET results for the last 5 years. 12 RELATED LITERATURE Teachers are expected to assume leadership roles with little or no preparation. (Zimpher and Howey, 1992)

13 RELATED LITERATURE The time has come for teacher education to be transformed. It is time to put together quality teaching, service learning and values education to work together to impact 21 st century education. (Lovat et al, 2009)

14 RELATED LITERATURE Schools need teachers who are prepared to lead, who know how to lead, both as teacher-leaders. (Crowther, Ferguson, and Hann, 2009)

16 RATIONALE OF HIYAS PROGRAM Vision: A dynamic program that forms SOE students to be champions of education in Northern Mindanao Mission: To provide an incubation program where Education students can train in the rudiments of educational leadership, meaningful engagements in education initiatives, and deepen their commitment to promote change in the communities.

17 RATIONALE OF HIYAS PROGRAM Goals: The program aims to provide Education students: 1) A series of trainings in leadership, self awareness and skills 2) Experiences to develop their abilities in social analyses, research, advocacy, coalition building, project implementation and resource mobilization for education related programs 3) Well-being, mentoring and pastoral care from peers and program mentors.
