3 WELCOME TO HEYTHROP ENROLMENT August 2015 Welcome to Heythrop! It is my pleasure, on behalf of all my colleagues, to welcome you to Heythrop College. We are delighted that you have chosen to study with us and hope that you settle into life here and quickly feel at home. Heythrop is a very special kind of place with its own unique atmosphere. Its long history it stretches back to before the University of London was founded gives it its unique character. As you will know, we are in a transition as we work to ensure that our mission and work can continue in a radically changed higher education environment. You will be kept fully informed of developments as the year proceeds. However you are also joining us after one of our most successful years. The results of the five-yearly national assessment of university research (REF) not only saw a marked improvement on our last set of results but placed Heythrop up with the top universities in the land. Furthermore in the National Student Satisfaction Survey released earlier in August 2015, we were ranked third in the University of London on overall satisfaction and twenty-first in the country. These results are an indication of the quality of the education which Heythrop offers, which I trust you will enjoy in the months to come and which this year we shall be working hard to secure for the future.
