1 KCC FOUNDATION INNOVATION GRANTS MINI-GRANT PROJECT REQUEST FOR PROPOSALS The Kankakee Community College Foundation, Inc. is a non-profit 501 (c) (3) corporation that works to promote the mission of Kankakee Community College: Enhancing quality of life through learning. The Foundation will award mini-grants to college faculty and staff to encourage them to develop new ideas and/or use innovative materials that encourage student success. The KCC Foundation would like to invite college faculty and staff to apply for a mini-grant for the academic year. The application deadline is Oct. 30, A committee comprised of foundation directors and associate deans will evaluate proposals for funding. The maximum amount you may request is $1,000. Five (5) $1,000 awards will be given by the Foundation annually (based on requests, this amounts could be adjusted to accommodate more than five awards). Awards can be used for the remainder of Fall 2015, Spring 2016 or Fall Please indicate what semester you will want to use the award. Grantees will be recognized at the KCC Foundation Scholarship Recognition Dinner in October All mini-grant proposals must promote student success. Innovation and/or new ideas should be evident. Proposals should also demonstrate cost effective use of funds. Preference will be given to proposals that: Promote student success Increase student persistence, retention, and graduation Promote articulation activities Proposals may address, but are not restricted to the following: Developing innovative teaching techniques and instructional materials Assessment of student learning Enhancement of learning though the use of instructional technology Recruitment of students from business and industry and/or secondary schools Innovate online hybrid course and other formats that expand accessibility Improvement of learning environment Acquisition of equipment needed to enhance student learning and/or student services Project funds may be used to buy supplies and/or equipment. However, these should be one component of a well-planned project. Project funds can be used to compensate experts coming to work with students, but not to pay staff or faculty. This includes adjunct faculty unless they are performing a service outside of a contract that is usually compensated through state or other institutional funds. The following will not be given a high priority ranking by directors: Proposals that included requests for food; Requests for funding for field trip type activities or student conferences; Continued requests for funding for the same activity.
2 If a department plans to send multiple proposals, please rank the proposals in order of priority with number one being the highest priority. If you need help writing your proposal, please Kelly Myers at kmyers@edu. All projects will be approved by semester/date. Departments must spend their minigrants by June 30, Mini-grants awarded in one fiscal year may not be carried forward into a subsequent fiscal year without prior approval by the Foundation Executive Director. Please be aware that carrying a grant into the next fiscal year may decrease the total amount available for the following year. RESPONSIBILITIES: Mini-grant project recipients are responsible for the following: Performing the project as written or discussing any changes before they are made with the Foundation Executive Director. Submitting a written evaluation of the project and a simple financial statement of expenses within two weeks of project conclusion.
