1 Major Communications Projects Project Name: Completion Date: SawNet SW Washington OSP Route SC2 Skamania County, WA Ongoing Construction of a fiber optic line that connects North Bonneville and Carson, WA. The project consists of 41 miles of outside plant construction of which 16.5 miles were underground and 24.5 miles were overhead. Underground construction methods included trenching, plowing, rock hammering, directional boring, and placing of fiber optic cable by blowing method. Project scope also included all fiber optic splicing and testing. Ponderosa Telephone Project Name: Auberry 04 & 06 and O Neal s 01 & 02 Auberry & O Neal s, CA Completion Date: Ongoing Project installs 21.5 miles of new copper cable with HDPE duct and vaults for future fiber deployment in rural areas. Installations following existing routes through private easements. Includes splicing and testing of copper system. Construction method trench, rock saw and directional bore. Project Name: Completion Date: Qwest/Century/Link NESC Underground Inspections Portland, OR Ongoing Perform NESC Underground Inspections throughout the Portland, OR metro area exchanges. Includes noting violations, inventory of Qwest outside plant, and some repairs. Oregon Telephone Company Project Name: Hwy 395 Fiber Mt. Vernon, OR Completion Date: December 2011 Project installed FTTH network in rural area. Installations included 14 miles of HDPE conduit and 3 miles of services to homes. All installations were by cable plow method in very rocky conditions. Cable was installed by blowing method for distribution and service lines.
2 AT&T Level 3 Communications World Com Verizon MCI Project Name: BNSF Rail Yard Relocation Longview, WA Completion Date: December 2011 Project relocated five major fiber optic transmission lines due to construction of a new BNSF rail yard. The project consisted of exposing and relocating 10,000 LF of existing and working fiber optic lines. We also installed 10,000 LF of new conduit and vaults. Several new fiber optic cables were installed via blowing method. Heavy wall split steel casing was install in other areas to protect existing fiber optic line. Project scope also included directional boring and installing a 10" HDPE casing and five sets of railroad tracks as well as the splicing and cutover of new fiber optic cable. Qwest/CenturyLink Project Name: Manhole Reinforcements Vancouver, WA Completion Date: December 2011 Project consists of reinforcing existing manholes that had been buried over 20 feet deep. Work performed included excavation, shoring, forming and pouring of a reinforced concrete envelope around each vault. Other project challenges included rerouting existing underground and overhead utilities and high traffic and pedestrian volume. Optimum West Project Name: Missoula to Hamilton Anaconda to Butte Great Falls to Havre Western Montana Completion Date: November 2011 Project consisted of 3 different segments totaling 84 miles of HDPE conduit installed by plow and trench methods. Intended to provide broadband speed to rural areas this project presented many unique challenges due to remote locations and hard rock excavations. Silver Star Communications Project Name: Teton Pass Jackson, WY Completion Date: October 2011 Project installed 21 miles of HDPE conduit and vaults for fiber deployment to help improve and strengthen broadband access to the Jackson Wyoming community. This project presented many challenges due to sensitive environments, rocky terrain, and high tourist traffic volume.
3 Wahkiakum West Telephone Project Name: SR4 and SR401 FTTH Deployment Naselle, WA Completion Date: September 2011 Project extended customers fiber optic network to customers homes. Construction methods included offset plowing and directional boring. Project placed 23 miles of HDPE City of Kent Project Name: 277 th St Valley Communications Fiber Kent, WA Completion Date: September 2011 This project consisted of installing 9,500 ft of 288 count fiber, install new conduits to upgrade an existing conduit system by trench and directional bore methods. Install five new communication vaults, fiber housing, splice closure, and all testing and splicing. Qwest/CenturyLink Project Name: Oregon City Fiber Install Oregon City, OR Completion Date: June 2011 Install 70,000 LF of fiber optic cable (up to 864 count) in customer s existing conduit and manhole network. Bonneville Power Administration Project Name: Augspurger Mountain Fiber Upgrade Home Valley, WA Completion Date: February 2011 Project installed customer s fiber optic network under electrical transmission lines in the cascade mountain range. Project had very limited access and was completed in extremely difficult terrain at high elevations during the fall and winter months. Project consisted of 42,000 LF of conduit placement. 32,750 LF of the project was completed by trench or plow method, and the remaining 9,250 was completed by directional boring. The directional bores on this project crossed under steams, reservoirs, wetlands, and forest corridors. The project also included the placement of pull boxes and fiber optic cable by blowing method. Siskiyou Telephone Project Name: Fort Jones Fort Jones, CA Completion Date: November 2010 Project extended customers fiber optic network to customers homes. Construction methods due to Forest Service lands and sensitive habitats where trenching with 100% select fill and directional boring. Project placed 30,000' of HDPE and PVC duct with fiber and copper placement with capston wheels.
4 Wahkiakum West Telephone Project Name: 2010 FTTH Deployment Pacific County, WA Completion Date: October 2010 Project extended customer s fiber optic network to customers homes. Construction methods included offset plowing and directional boring. Project placed 110,000 LF of HDPE Gervais Telephone Company Project Name: Hopmere Eldridge Fiber Gervais, OR Completion Date: October 2010 Project extended customers fiber optic network to customers homes. Construction methods included offset plowing and directional boring. Project placed 27,500 LF of HDPE Level 3 Communications Project: Prineville Facebook Network Expansion Prineville, OR Completion Date: September 2010 Project extended customer s fiber optic network from Redmond, OR to the new Facebook facility in Prineville, OR. Project consisted of 195,000 LF of outside plant construction of which 56,000 were underground and 135,000 were overhead. Underground construction methods included trenching with slurry backfill, plowing, rock sawing, directional boring, and placing of fiber optic cable by blowing method. Project scope also included all fiber optic splicing and testing. Cowlitz PUD Project Name: Allen Blvd & Swift Fiber (SR 503) Cowlitz County, WA Completion Date: August & October 2010 Project extended customer s fiber optic network and electrical distribution system to customers homes. Construction methods included offset plowing, trenching, and directional boring. Projects placed 8,400 LF of HDPE duct, fiber optic cable, and 3 phase primary electrical cable. Toledo Telephone Project Name: Town of Toledo FTTH Deployment Toledo, WA Completion Date: July 2010 Project extended customers fiber optic network to customers homes. Construction methods included offset plowing and directional boring. Project placed 35,000 LF of HDPE
5 TDS Telecom Project Name: Fargher Lake Fiber Interconnect La Center, WA Completion Date: June 2010 Project extended customers fiber optic network. Operations included placing 15,000 LF of HDPE duct, placing fiber optic cable by blowing method, splicing of cable, and material procurement. Wahkiakum West Telephone Project Name: Upper Valley Road & Hungry Hwy FTTH Naselle, WA Completion Date: October 2009 Project extended customer s fiber optic network to customers homes. Construction methods included offset plowing and directional boring. Project placed 95,000 LF of HDPE Google, Inc. Project Name: The Dalles Metro Build The Dalles, OR Completion Date: February 2009 Installation of an underground fiber optic cable project in The Dalles, Oregon. Total project length was approximately 7 miles. Much of the project was installed in solid rock condition along a state highway and throughout the central business district. Operations included installation of PVC & HDPE conduits via open trench & directional bore methods, bridge attachments, fiber optic cable placing, and splicing. Google, Inc. Project Name: Tygh Valley to Maupin Oregon Tygh Valley, OR Completion Date: December 2008 Installation of an underground fiber optic cable project in central Oregon. Total project length was approximately 15 miles. Much of the project was installed in solid rock conditions along a state highway. Operations included installation of HDPE conduits via plow, rocksaw, & open trench methods, directional bores, bridge attachments, and fiber optic cable placing, and splicing. Fair Point Communications Ellensburg Telephone Project Name: Vantage Highway Fiber Vantage, WA Completion Date: December 2008 Installation of an underground fiber optic cable project that connected Ellensburg and Vantage Washington. Total project length was approximately 17 miles. Operations included installation of HDPE conduits via plow and open trench methods, directional bores, bridge attachments, and fiber optic cable placing.
6 GCI Communications Project Name: Parks Highway Fiber Anchorage to Fairbanks, AK Completion Date: October 2008 Installation of the underground portion (approximately 120 miles) of a project that connected Anchorage and Fairbanks Alaska along the Glenn Parks Highway. Operations included installation of HDPE conduits via plow and open trench methods, bridge attachments, and fiber optic cable placing. Ground conditions varied from muskeg swamp to solid rock. Construction began in September of 2007 and continued through winter when extreme cold and deep snow were encountered. RBC worked as a subcontractor to Utility Technologies, Inc. on this project. Qwest Communications Contract Name: Oregon FTTN Deployment Portland, Eugene, & Bend, OR Completion Date: October 2008 Installation of Fiber to the Node (FTTN) Network. Network was deployed in existing conduit structure in metro and suburban areas. Operations included approximately 500,000 LF of duct verification and 200,000 LF of conventional and micro fiber installation, and construction of electronic node sites. Wahkiakum West Telephone Project Name: Knappton & South Valley Road FTTH Naselle, WA Completion Date: July 2008 Project extended customer s fiber optic network to customers homes. Construction methods included offset plowing and directional boring. Project placed 25,000 LF of HDPE North Texas Tollway Authority Project Name: Grapevine Project # Dallas, TX Completion Date: July 2008 Installation of the underground conduit portion of an intelligent transportation system (ITS) along the new NTTA tollway in Grapevine, Texas. Project includes approximately 34,000 LF of trenching, conduit, and pull box installation. RBC worked as a subcontractor to Power Engineers, Inc. on this project.
7 North State Telephone Project Name: Camp Baldwin Dufur, OR Completion Date: June 2008 Installation of 30,000 foot vault and conduit system for underground fiber optic telecommunications lines to Boys Scout Camp Baldwin. Project was located at a high elevation on the slopes of Mount Hood outside of Dufur, OR. Majority of trench on the project was completed during extreme winter weather. Texas Department of Transportation Project Name: Loop #12 Project #CM2007 (520) Dallas, TX Completion Date: June 2008 Installation of the underground conduit portion of an intelligent transportation system (ITS) along the Loop #12 in Dallas Texas. Project includes approximately 64,500 LF of trenching, conduit, and pull box installation. All conduits were encased in concrete on this project. RBC was a subcontractor to Power Engineers, Inc. on this project. Qwest Communications Project Name: Klineline Bridge Vancouver, WA Completion Date: May 2008 Project removed existing conduit package containing multiple fiber optic and copper cables from attachment on bridge that had been structurally compromised. A 200 LF temporary suspension span was constructed and conduits were then transferred to it. Molalla Communications Company Project Name: 2008 Fiber Molalla, OR Completion Date: April 2008 Project extended customer s fiber optic network. Operations included placing aerial fiber optic cable, plowing 30,000 LF of HDPE duct, placing fiber optic cable by blowing method, splicing of cable, and material procurement. AT&T Project Name: Washington County Light Rail Phase II Beaverton, OR Completion Date: November 2007 Relocation of existing fiber optic cables in multiple locations to accommodate construction of new light rail system. Project included aerial, underground, trenching, boring, and bridge attachments.
8 Master Service Agreements & Long Term Maintenance Contracts TDS Telecom Contract Name: Washington & Oregon Master Service Agreement WA & OR Sole source provider of turnkey outside plant installation services. Operations include: Aerial, Underground, Plowing, Trenching, Directional boring, Buried Service Wire, Remote Site Construction, Fiber Optic & Copper Cable Placement, and Splicing of Fiber Optic & Copper Cable. Contract operations include procurement, inventory, and providing of all required OSP materials. Fair Point Communications Contract Name: Washington Master Service Agreement Yelm & Ellensburg, WA Sole source provider of outside plant installation services. Operations include: Aerial, Underground, Plowing, Trenching, Directional boring, Buried Service Wire, Remote Site Construction and Fiber Optic & Copper Cable Placement. Verizon Business (MCI) Contract Name: Routine Maintenance and Emergency Restoration Contract OR, WA & ID Provide construction crews for routine maintenance and emergency restoration of owner s extensive fiber optic network in a three state area. Level 3 Communications Contract Name: Routine Maintenance and Emergency Restoration Contract OR & WA Provide construction crews for routine maintenance and emergency restoration of owner s extensive fiber optic network in a two state area.
