1 The Distance Learning Center for Addiction Studies The Premier Source for Addictions Counselor Education and Continuing Education on the World Wide Web A Joint Presentation of the Betty Ford Center and the Distance Learning Center, LLC. An exciting concept for securing Continuing Education Credits and staying up-to-date on the latest developments in the addictions field via the Internet. The Distance Learning Center for Addiction Studies (DLCAS.com) is an Internet based educational service that allows participants the opportunity of obtaining educational credits toward state and/or national licensure or certification (either initial education credits for licensure or certification or continuing education credits for re-licensure or re-certification). By way of distance education, a student or counselor can obtain part of their required credits in the convenience of their own home, at your own pace, within your own time frame. Using distance education saves considerable amounts of both time and money. What is Distance Education? Distance education is a guided set of learning activities that provide high quality content linked to current research and/or other related, widely accepted academic work, along with access to the instructor or training provider. The majority of state certifying or licensing bodies currently allow allied health professionals to obtain some portion of their education credits toward original or continued licensure or certification by way of distance education. What separates distance education from previously used self-guided study (or home study) is the use of Internet technology that allows the participant access to instructional staff. This difference allows the training activity to be more like live in-class training, without the added expense of travel, hotels, meals, and most importantly, time away from home or work. Nationally Approved Training DLCAS.com is approved as a training provider by the National Association of Alcoholism and Drug Abuse Counselors, Provider # We are also approved by many of the major certification/licensure bodies including: The National Board of Certified Counselors (NBCC); The American Psychological Association (APA). Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB) Each individual course we offer will include a clear, concise description of the course content and objectives. Identification of the core tasks, knowledge, and skills with which the course deals will also be provided. Because of the unique nature of distance learning, there is no refund available for "non-attendance." It will be the responsibility of each participant to complete and return required materials (post test and evaluation) in a timely manner. These guidelines and expectations will be spelled out in the introductory section of each course.
2 Course overview information, educational goals, learning objectives and instructor credentials can be found on our homepage Course Listings link. All DLCAS.COM courses are available with the assurance of a 100% money back guarantee if for any reason a student is not satisfied with a course for any reason. All disputes and grievances should be directed to Mr. Vic Shaw at [email protected]. Certificates of course completion are mailed within 72 hours of the completion of course posttest at an 80% level and submission of a completed course evaluation form.
