Include Transcripts and Catalog Course Descriptions of the courses if the titles of your courses are different from those listed. 4. If you had any clinical supervised work experience in Addictions counseling you can list them in Section II. 5. Include $25.00 Processing Fee. 6. Requirements: A Master s degree with 60 credits or 90 quarter graduate credits or Doctorate with 90 semester graduate credits in a health and human services counseling field and 27 credits from the topic areas listed below. Each course must be at least 3 credits (or 5 quarter credits). Note (a) through (j) may be undergraduate courses and K through M MUST be graduate level courses. Additionally, 3-credits (or 5 quarter credits) in Ethics with a focus on alcohol and drug counseling is required. A course applied to one core area cannot be used again to fulfill another core area. If the titles of the courses on your transcript(s) are different from those listed below, you must include the catalog course description or college syllabi. In many cases one course may not completely meet the total requirements for an instructional area. For example, a course in child development would not meet the total requirement for the area called Human Growth and Development because the child development course would focus on only the early life development and not cover aspects of later life. Face-to-face client contact hour means direct session time with clients physically present. 2. Adjunctive psychotherapy means crisis intervention, referral, intake assessment, leadership in self-help group, consultation, guidance counseling, rehabilitation counseling, hospice and grief, school guidance counseling, career counseling, hypnotherapy, play therapy. 3. Face-to-face clinical supervision means direct supervision time with the supervisee and supervisor physically present. 4. Approved supervisor means a licensed clinical Alcohol and Drug counselor or another health care provider under the Health Occupations Article, Annotated Code of Maryland. Examples: Psychiatrist, Clinical Social Worker, Psychiatrist Nurse, Professional Counselor. 5. Clinical counseling means to engage professionally and for Compensation in alcohol and drug counseling and appraisal activities by providing services involving the application of counseling principles and methods in the diagnosis, prevention, treatment, and amelioration of psychological problems, emotional conditions, or mental conditions of individuals or groups. 7
