2 Career and College Promise Program Description Career and College Promise provides a focused means for students to begin completion of college transfer credits or career training prior to their graduation from high school. Courses under Career and College Promise are offered to high school students with no charge for tuition. Eligible high school students may earn: College credit which is completely transferrable to all UNC System Institutions, as well as many private schools and out-of-state universities and colleges College credit toward a credential, certificate or diploma in a technical career A high school diploma and two years of college credit in four to five years through innovative cooperative high schools (Hoke County students only). Upon meeting eligibility requirements, students may enroll in a college transfer pathway, a careertechnical pathway, or the SandHoke Early College (Hoke County students only). Students may be enrolled in only one college transfer pathway or career-technical pathway per semester, but eligible students may also opt to be concurrently enrolled in a college transfer pathway and career technical pathway during the same semester. Students may change pathways after each semester. Students may earn college transfer credits toward hours of college credit that will transfer to any public North Carolina university as long as a grade of C or better is earned in each course. Credits may also be accepted for transfer by private or out-of-state schools. Courses may be offered on the SCC campus, on one of the high school campuses or online. Not all courses are offered at all of the high schools. Associates in Arts Pathway Associates in Science Pathway Career Technical Pathways Students may earn a college credits toward a credential, certificate or diploma in a technical career. These pathways allow students to explore potential career areas. Courses may be offered on the SCC campus, on one of the high school campuses or online. High-school and college-level credits are earned at an accelerated rate. Students gain support and preparation for college and university success. 3 College Readiness Benchmarks on Approved Diagnostic Assessment Tests The following assessment scores qualify students to take courses under one of the college transfer pathways, as well as choose courses from a career technical path. Students who do not meet these qualifications may still enroll in courses under a career technical path, as long as they meet course prerequistes. Additionally, students may combine scores from different assessments to meet the required qualifications. For example, qualifying English and reading scores from one assessment may be combined with qualifying math scores from a different assessment, in order to establish college readiness.
