1 University of the Cumberlands ilearn Student Training Getting Started Overview 1. Introduction o ilearn is the University of the Cumberlands online learning and teaching environment. o You will use ilearn to access all online classes that you are taking at the University of the o Cumberlands. ilearn has tools that will enable you to: o Easily interact with the instructor and your classmates o View assignments o View lessons that the instructor has created o Submit assignments o Review grades that you have received o Have live class meetings 2. Hardware and Software Requirements o Recommendations o PC running Windows XP, Vista, or 7 Other operating systems may work but are not recommended For best results, use the recommendation o Internet Explorer web browser Other web browsers may work but are not recommended For best results, use the recommendation o If your live class is using audio, a headset with built-in microphone is required o Requirements o Access to a computer with Internet access Window XP, Vista, or 7 is recommended Internet Explorer is recommended o The software requirements are shown in the System Check

2 o Red x s mean that you do not meet that requirement o Click the link next to the x to download that requirement o Green check marks mean that you do meet that requirement o Be sure to have all green check marks before you login for the best experience with ilearn 3. Get Username and Password o Navigate to o On the left side of the page, click the link Sign Up for a Mail Account o Enter your first name, last name, last four digits of your social security number, your student id number, and your classification o Be sure to check the check box that says I have read and accept the University s Terms of Use Policy o Be sure NOT to include the leading zeroes in your id number o Notice the not that your account will not be available immediately

3 o You will then see a screen with your university and password o The portion of the address up to but not including symbol is your ilearn username o If you get an error message that your information does not match o Be sure that you did not enter the leading zeroes in your ID number o Be sure that you entered your legal first name and last name o Try again o If you are still having problems feel free to contact IT 4. Retrieve Forgotten Passwords o If you ever forget your password it is easy to reset o Navigate to o On the left side of the page, click the link Forgot Your Password?

4 o Enter your first name, last name, last four digits of your social security number, and your student id number o Be sure NOT to include the leading zeroes in your id number o Notice the not that your account will not be available immediately o You will then see a screen with your new password o If you get an error message that your information does not match o Be sure that you did not enter the leading zeroes in your ID number o Be sure that you entered your legal first name and last name o Try again o If you are still having problems feel free to contact IT

Validate Account with MyUC o Navigate to myuc.ucumberlands.edu o Enter your username and password that you previously registered for o Be sure to wait until your account is activated to access MyUC o Click on self-service home on the top right o The first time you login to self-service you will be asked to verify your account o Enter your: o Student ID number o Legal first name o Legal last name o Birth date o Click Verify Account o Once your account has been verified, you will see a message that congratulates you on successfully verifying your account o Now you are ready to login to ilearn 6. Enter Training Course o Navigate to ilearn.ucumberlands.edu o Enter your username and password to login

6 o The name of the training course is ilearn Student Training o Click on the name in the Courses module o Click on the Lessons tab at the top of the page o Each folder represents a Lesson that must be completed o Click on the name of a lesson to enter that lesson o Each lesson contains a: o video o document o quiz o They must be completed in that order o Once you watch a video, that document will be unlocked o Once you view a document, that quiz will be unlocked o Once you pass the quiz (>70%), the next lesson will be unlocked 7.
