11 Second Degree Entry BScN Designed for learners who have completed at least 60 university credits, or who already have a completed degree, prior to entering the program Unique in meeting the needs of its learners Learners come from health related programs, or liberal or broad arts and science post secondary backgrounds Program responds to increasing demand for nursing programs that build on prior learning at an accelerated pace 11

12 Student Voices I like how the program is two years. A strength, I would say about the program is that it focuses so much on clientcentered care, and I feel a lot entering the profession because [the nurses] care for the individuals it doesn t take the focus off the patient. I really like it.. They are killing us this semester, honest to God. This is no flippy degree. Not that I expect it to be It s great. I love everything I m learning and I m learning a lot. The clinicals are great The program does a great job of encouraging the learner to develop. In retrospect I had NO idea what nursing encompassed when entering the program. It s not just a job it s a way of being. I love it. I love nursing. I love the profession.

20 Nursing Resource Centre (NRC) Nursing Resource Centre provides a simulated clinical environment in which to develop a wide range of clinical competencies essential to the provision of safe and competent care Prepares for, augments, and complements off campus clinical experiences

21 Recent Program Successes Graduate Entrance scholarships Second Entry > 600 applicants for 150 spots; 90% CRNE pass rate in Oct, 2008 IEN Admitted 5 th cohort, first in sustainable program; PLAR pilot started; CRNE pass rate steadily increasing (97% increase from 2007 to 2009) Post RN closure proceeding smoothly, RN diploma to Masters proposal in development SURVIVED ACCREDITATION SITE VISIT! 21
