2 To Our Valued Stakeholders: The purpose of this report is to share the activities of the Midtown Business Association (MBA), Midtown Property Business Improvement District (PBID) and Sutter Business Improvement District (SBIA) from January 1, 2012 to June 30, PBID: In 2012, the PBID successfully renewed for a second fi ve year term with 76% of the ballots returned in favor of the district. Priorities continue to be clean and safe streets with the launch of a power washing program, a homeless outreach program and an extensive partnership with the Sacramento Police Department. The PBID continues to offer advocacy on many public policy matters, a focus on transportation and collaborative marketing. Governed by a seven-member board of directors, the PBID oversees the MBA s service delivery to property owners. Public committee meetings are held quarterly. In 2014, the PBID authorized the annual 3% rate increase for PBID payers. MBA: The MBA continues to successfully deliver all PBID services in addition to growing membership outreach, launching the Midtown Farmers Market held every Saturday at 20th and J streets, offering enhanced maintenance services to the Handle District and hosting a successful Midtown Cocktail Week program. The MBA is governed by a twenty-member board of directors that oversees the delivery of PBID services, SBIA services and MBA services. SBIA: The SBIA continues to offer evening police patrol along with responsible hospitality efforts, special events including Sacratomato Week and collaborative marketing. Public board meetings are held quarterly. Moving forward, the MBA is working to create an innovative sense of place in Midtown through increased lighting, additional safety, increased homeless outreach, additional trash cans, the installation of murals and the creation of a guiding vision via a ULI panel. The MBA has also developed strong internal control management practices in accounting, human resources, information technology and tracking of staff outcomes of clean and safe work. The MBA continues to be a hub for business and property owners in need of advocacy for development and expansion. Thank you for your continued engagement with the Midtown Business Association, - Beth Hassett, MBA Board Chair and President, WEAVE - Emily Baime Michaels, Executive Director, Midtown Business Association
