Programme Overview BSc (Hons) Construction Management is a top-up degree programme offered by Coventry University. This carries the same academic status and rights as that offered to Coventry University s on-campus graduates. The degree is awarded by Coventry University in the United Kingdom, and is monitored and guaranteed by the Higher Education and Funding Council (HEFC) and the Quality Assurance Agency (QAA). Programme Overview The Bachelor of Applied Science (Construction Management) degree programme at SHAPE is offered to those who have completed a qualification deemed equivalent to the first two years of an Australian bachelor s degree programme in Construction Management. The programme: has a strong emphasis on communication, team work and leadership; incorporates project-based learning; is committed to encouraging diversity in the construction profession; maintains a strong emphasis on industry relevance and flexible program structure. This programme prepares graduates to work as construction managers, project managers, quantity surveyors or property developers, who are responsible for overall planning, cost and schedule analysis, site supervision, project and business management of the entire construction project life cycle. Graduates are capable of working on multidisciplinary projects in order to move beyond the construction aspects of a project and manage the entire building process from inception, through various stages of design, to completion and handover. Through individual and team-based projects that closely resemble the work of construction management, project management and quantity surveying professionals, students integrate their knowledge, teamwork, leadership, management and communication skills which will enhance their future career development. 9 PROGRAMME STRUCTURE The programme at SHAPE is equivalent to the 3rd and 4th years of an RMIT Bachelor of Applied Science (Construction Management) degree with an entry point to the programme The academic year consists of 3 trimesters and the programme is delivered in part-time mode over 6 trimesters. There are a total of 192 credit points and students normally undertake 2 or 3 courses with 24 to 36 credit points in each trimester. Students knowledge in new technologies and products to improve energy supply, automation and facilities will be enriched. They will also develop professional skills including communication, teamwork, and leadership skills. This programme prepares graduates to work as electrical engineers in the design of systems and equipment for all types of industrial and everyday purposes, particularly in the fields of renewable energy, transportation, power generation and distribution, and retail and industrial automation. Through individual and team-based projects that closely resemble the work of practising engineers, students will exercise their design, teamwork, leadership, management and communication skills, and will have their technical knowledge and skills deepened. School of Electrical and Computer Engineering The School of Electrical and Computer Engineering is recognised locally and internationally for its comprehensive and flexible educational programmes and first class research. The School offers a wide range of undergraduate, postgraduate coursework and postgraduate research engineering programs and courses at RMIT s City campus in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. The School currently has approximately 120 higher degrees by research students, with approximately 80% undertaking PhD studies. Specialisation areas that are reflected in research and teaching include electrical energy systems, control systems, electronic engineering, biomedical engineering, telecommunications engineering, computer engineering, network engineering and microelectronic engineering. There are a total of 192 credit points and an average of 24 RMIT credit points in each semester when undertaken on a part-time basis. The programme will be delivered through a combination of face-to-face intensive workshops, weekly tutorials and laboratory sessions and online components. The programme aims to nurture professional engineers who could apply knowledge of materials, structures, energy and management to solve real-life technical problems. The work of mechanical engineers involves design and development of products as diverse as home appliances, industrial equipment, energy and transportation systems. Building on students knowledge in mechanical engineering and engineering science from their prior studies, the programme aims to further develop their competence in analytical problem-solving abilities, reinforce their self-initiative and leadership potential, and enhance their sense of responsibility and accountability. The programme has strong design and analysis elements, applied to specific industry problems. The curriculum offers specialisations centered on Computer-Aided Engineering and Design, Industrial Aerodynamics and Computational Fluid Dynamics, Energy Conservation and Renewable Energy, and Mechatronics, Dynamics and Control.
