5 To create the level of changed needed, partnerships between nurse educators and students in schools of nursing and nursing staff and administrators in service settings are essential. Regulatory bodies for health care institutions and all health care professionals need to exert a unified effort at improved collaboration and communication. Each sector must enlarge its boundaries to include all nurses as members and participants in the larger good: effective nursing practice for the sake of a safer and healthier society (Benner, p. 209).
