4 Faculty history 1921: the Department of Sociology was founded at Masaryk University 1926: the Department of Psychology was founded 1920s 1997: social sciences had been developing within the Faculty of Arts 1998: establishment of an independent 2005: FSS moved into a new building at Joštova street

9 International Cooperation in Teaching Masaryk University The cooperates with numerous institutions within Europe, as well as overseas, offers 25 English-taught courses each semester, Has more than 60 outgoing and 40 incoming students each semester, Has about 10 visiting proffesors each semester, has signed more than 40 agreements international mobility within Erasmus programme

11 English-taught Master s degree programmes Masaryk University The Faculty offers two Master s degree programs in English. They are open to students holding a BA or equivalent degree in the social science or the humanities. European Politics a comprehensive program of instruction in the fields of comparative politics and European integration. Students will receive training in theory and methodology and will acquire extensive empirical knowledge in these areas of study. Sociology provides students with basic skills that enable them to conduct sociological research, and understand and explain social phenomena. The theoretical as well as methodological knowledge gained prepares students to make sense of the rapidly changing world that we live in and participate in shaping its future development.
