My doctoral thesis from 2014 discussed how small and medium companies could start working with quality management and systematic improvements. I participated in the now ended international research project Future Manufacturing Model for Small and Medium Enterprises (FutureSME) which had the intent of aiding European SMEs in strengthening their long term competitiveness. The project had 26 partners and a budget of 8 million Euro. The morning consisted of presentations by me. The afternoon consisted of group exercises based on participating companies real data. In essence, the Strategy Wall tool is a method to transform strategic efforts from excel sheets, dusty binders, and minds of individuals to being a live and condense setup on the wall. This tool developed to suit the characteristics of SMEs.
