4 4 Broadband Broadband utilises Manx Telecom ADSL2+ (Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line) for high speed Internet access. Using your existing telephone line, Broadband offers you the following benefits: "High Bandwidth" The high bandwidth capabilities of Broadband mean that access speeds will be much greater than what you can currently get with a dial-up modem. You will be able to receive data through Broadband at speeds of up to 16 Mb/s (Megabits per second), and send data at up to 832 Kb/s (Kilobits per second). The actual Internet speeds achieved over a line are dependant on many factors and cannot be guaranteed. "Always-on" Users of Broadband incur no call charges for Internet use when 'online' and do not have to waste valuable time obtaining a connection via a dial-up, although log-in is required for each new session. "Keep the telephone line open" Broadband does not affect the normal telephone service - so you can make and receive calls while online. "Flexibility" With Broadband you can plug your router into any extension socket in your property thus eliminating the need for alterations to your existing wiring. A Manxnet account provides 20MB (Megabytes) of mail storage and can be accessed online through webmail. It can also be used with POP3 mail programs, e.g. Microsoft Outlook, Outlook Express when you connect to the Internet using any Manxnet Internet access service. The maximum Manxnet size is 10MB.
